Blowing leaves with my Buffalo Turbine, 2100 rpm and heard a fairly loud mechanical sound like something broke and all hydraulics including tire rotation stopped.
Engine sounds as though it is quieter like maybe completely unloaded.
At less than 600 hrs on an impeccably maintained machine I am feeling very disappointed.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience? Thnx

Check your hydraulic pump belt and tensioner.

Did your post failure inspection reveal anything?

Thanks for the reply Ruff Dog and I agree. Kinda happy no one has replied with an answer pertaining to ongoing issues. One of the items I have not yet acquired for my toolcat is a shop manual, at 600 hrs just didn't think I needed it yet. I have changed a few belts on skid steers so I am certain I can fumble my way through.

No, it had just failed right before I started this post.
The turbine was hanging vertically when the failure occured so to protect the direction control elbow on the bottom I had to get a Jack and raise the lift arms up enough to let safety bar on the lift cylinder engage and then scurry to some buisiness appointments.
Right now it is sitting on the hillside in an inconvenient place to work on it but I will do so tomorrow and report back.

5 years and 1 month old with 540 hrs. Main pump locked up and sheared the end of the shaft off.
This is really bad

I don't know if that is the exact part number but appearance is the same. I have a call in to my local dealer asking them to reach out to BC corporation and see if they might show some leanancy on the expired warranty. I fully understand 5 years old is well past but no way should a pump seize at 540 hrs. I know a little about piston pumps and have read where retainers come loose causing catastrophic failures.
I use this like a tractor, fetch firewood, run a leaf blower and a winch. Until last night never sat outside.
I lurked this site for years following drive motor issues on earlier models and finally decided to take a leap of faith and purchased this new. Even five years ago I spent close to 60K with a couple options and forks.
Sorry for the vent, just a little disheartened.

I just went out to look at my toolcat and was looking at the pump location. I'm thinking the pump that the pulley broke off of is the hydrostatic pump and the smaller hydraulic pump mounts at the end of that. The service manual says to pull the cab to remove the pumps. Looking at the online parts lookup, the hydrostatic pump (pulley end) lists all the parts separately and your broken shaft may be # 6692681.
