Warning About Dealers And Their Pricing

My guess is that every time he depreciated it down to zero, he’d get a new one so he could write it off on his taxes. Had a cousin who did that with F350 pickups, every 4-years They depreciated to zero and he would buy a new one. Not sure it wold pass muster with a CPA, but it made sense to him and the Budget Officer, aka wife.
I kept my 7 tractors inside and in good condition so they maintained most (and in some cases all) their original value. As my acreage grew over the years and I assumed more chores & road maintenance, I needed larger tractors. Eventually, it got to the point where I needed to have two around at the same time.

Financially, the cost of all this equipment was a lot less than you might think.

Lol agreed. On another note I agree with you on your new truck. I had to buy one too. Traded in a 2018 f350 srw and got what I paid for it 40k miles later. Was able to order and received a 2022 f450 with x plan pricing. Crazy how pricing is now with trucks

Interesting times for sure. X Plan was definitely a factor. Hard to believe we ended up with great deals in these times of dealers having "premiums" above MSRP. The 2020 that I traded in never hit the dealer website. I think they had someone waiting in the wings that scooped it up immediately.
The flip side of the high new truck pricing is the high trade in values. I know that late last summer or early fall I saw a 2017 F 250 XLT Premium on a local dealer's website. It had 27k miles on it and they were asking several thousand more for it than I paid for a brand new 2017 optioned just about exactly the same. Things like that make me wonder how people can afford or get financed a used truck. But I guess they do because nothing seems to stay on the lot very long.

He seems to get his panties in a bunch on a lot of threads if everything isn't going 100% his way.
You’re just upset you got caught by Coobie.
And that’s all this is about.
Just drop it like you dropped your signature and admit it.
It’s really tiresome and affects every thread you participate in.

Can we please stop the personal attacks in this thread?
I agree. Anyone can take a good-natured ribbing now and then but the name calling is uncalled for. I hate that I've had to put people that I usually enjoy reading on "ignore". I can handle honest disagreement and debate but tire of people that argue for the sake of arguing, especially if it gets personal and vicious. Lighten up a little people.

They did have a LOT of skid steers in as well as Toolcats and front buckets. So things are looking up as far as supply starting to come back. But prices are still high!
That's why they have a lot, their prices are too high.

I don't think the price of a new truck, tractor, skid steer, excavator, whatever, will stop buying. It will only stop when reality sets in and those buyers realize they can't pay their operational costs let alone another payment.

**UPDATE

Today makes it exactly one week since I reached out and spoke with 5030's dealer. As of today his dealer has not made good on anything he said he would do. He made no attempts to contact me or provide me any pricing.

Cahaba, I am north of Tuscaloosa. I love my LS dealer, Columbian. You might have to be careful getting advice on here, they may be Auburn fans.
Just kidding.

Easy now Coobie. If I called a dealer in S. Michigan about a model they didn't have in stock and didn't know when they would get one and wanted pricing I actually wouldn't expect much of a positive reaction. While you would say he's a great dealer. :)

When I have been in your situation, I went back to the drawing board and with extra research, found some great farm equipment. Sometimes I had my heart set on a particular brand and model. It’s wasnt available. After some additional research, I found an alternative I was happier with than the original model I wanted.
Hay Dude I think you planted the seed in my mind last week when you wrote this ^^^ After another round of failed attempts to try and work with the local Deere dealers yesterday I finally came to my whit's end with them and gave up. I could see the writing on the wall and my back up alternative was not much better. After staying awake most of the night last night thinking about everything, I finally came to the conclusion that I need to broaden my horizons. And broaden my horizons I did. I made several phone calls to all the local Kioti dealers I could find in my state and man was there a huge difference in the kind of treatment and response that I got from them! Looking back, I wish I had done this sooner but I was hung up on concerns about things that I later realized were not as big of a deal as I once considered them to be. And just to let all of you know, the price was not what made me decide to throw in the towel with Deere and Kubota although it played a major role in it. I will keep you all posted as I believe I may have a deal together soon.
