welding carts

Great idea flipping the top shelf so door will open previously used spacers. One thing that's bothered me on the lighter inverter based welders is overzealously pulling on the leads enough so the welder falls off the cart or work bench and falls o.n the ground. All my current welders are old skool heavier transformer based. However my newer 40 amp Hobart plasma cutter is not. I try to be extra careful to not get tangled up in the torch or ground so I don't pull it off a cart or work bench. Imo great lightweight portability comes with perils of putting the welder in precarious positions.

I'm home today and I'll get to mess with the carts some. I've got a fellow coming by to wire in a plugin for it soon. I now see I need to move one cable hook since the cable will impede the drawer.... In this photo you can se the bumpers added to keep the welding in its proper postion AND it was a tab to low in the cart.

One of MANY reasons for a custom build (along with getting to spend tons of time futzing around ) - some pics of my solution to welder retention and wire feed door access - the side support angle on this side was cut down on its vertical half by nearly 1/2" so there is NOTHING in the way of full opening of the door, plus the lock washer and wing nut/custom bent bracket can be snugged up to hold the welder firmly enough WITHOUT bending anything.

Arly, in all fairness to you I had a little more room to work than your situation, PLUS I already had the MM252 with 15' mig gun AND a 30 foot spool gun if 15 wasn't enough - DEF takes the pressure off to "do it YESTERDAY"... Steve

Oh, and yeah - the pic showing the bottle was taken BEFORE the crappy OEM ground clamp went bye-bye...

Lookin' good; the display on my Power iTig 200T is different than yours, but it's also very intuitive.

Dunno what wire you prefer, I've always had good luck with Lincoln L56 on all 3 of my mig machines - interesting thing, Home Depot has the 12.5# spools of it for about a buck LESS per pound than Zoro, etc -

Nearest Home D is 100 miles from us and we never stop there. I ordered some wire from amazonie but seen today my locale HW store stocks Forney. Would have got that.

I discovered about 20 years ago that dead freezers aren't useless - this one was about 30 cubic feet, had a little mushroom thing over a drain hole in the bottom - I relocated that to the top and added a grommet to the bottom hole for a "outhouse" light fixture, running a 100 watt "rough service" (turned down to about half with a "drill speed control" - don't remember when I changed the bulb last, but it was probably about 10 YEAR ago.

I started with 60 watt (no speed control), changed bulbs nearly every month or two.

Everything in there is either delicate, expensive or "rustable", that includes welding wire (I have a rod oven for LoHi rod and sealable canisters for other rods.
One of these days I might get around to bulding more convenient shelving, just gotta find more of those "tuits"... Steve

Only thing Forney I've used is a couple of their wire wheel types, and my old off-brand 250 AC/DC stick machine's front panel connections are a Forney part# - They've (Forney, that is) survived for at least 55 years that I'm aware of, must be doin' SOMETHING right.

If this is your (100 mile away) store, you can get the Lincoln delivered in a couple days (obviously not necessary if you're happy with locally available Forney wire :=)

I did not flip the top shelf. You can't do that on this model.
