I grounded the yellow with green stripe wire, the solenoid pulled in then let out. It didn't hold in.
I swapped the 2 blue relays. no change.

the 2 wires that have power on the solenoid are a blue with yellow stripe and a red with a white or yellow stripe.

Does the red have power all the time and the blue only for a few seconds?

The red wire has power for a few seconds, I think it is the pull wire, and the other that briefly comes on with a dim test light comes on and goes out.

According to the manual I am reading the Red wire would be the pull. But it definitely could be wrong or for a different production year.

We need to check the voltage at the engine stop blue relay. I will make another post with what wires to check.

Hit,
Maybe a silly question but are there two or three wires going to the stop solenoid? Was going to look at mine but totally forgot..

According to the manual I am referring to the stop relay should have these color wires going to the socket.

Red w/ blue stripe = Hot wire for the relay coil

Brown = ground for the relay coil. This one goes to the controller that you verified earlier is working on that end.

Red w/ black stripe = Hot wire coming from fuse number 4

Blue w/ yellow stripe goes to the hold side of the stop solenoid.

After turning switch to start and back to on, check for power on the Red W Blue Stripe wire. This should be done with light clamp on a good ground.

Then confirm the Brown wire is giving the signal by checking power with the light clamp on the positive side of the battery.

If the light comes on for both test above then the relay should energize. You should be able to feel the click if it is hard to hear over the other relays. If one of the test fail you need to trace that wire back to the control or fuse.

Next test is to test Power on the Red w/black stripe. This is done with the test light clamp on a good ground.

Then test power on the Blue w/ yellow stripe. Again the light clamp should be on a good ground.

If the above test passes, you should have Power as long as the switch remains in the on position. If the first part of this test fails then you need to trace the red w/black stripe back to fuse 4.

If the second part fails the relay is not working and you need to confirm it energized. If it did then the relay needs replacing.

Hope that helps!

I should add that if you have uninterrupted power on the blue w/ yellow stripe at the relay you need to trace that wire to the stop solenoid.

Also don’t give up you will find it. Electrical issues on any vehicle can be difficult to locate for anyone. Just be patient, you are gaining on the solution.
