I am looking for a grapple for my Kioti DK40, I was getting ready to buy the EA grapple.
But that seems out of the question now. Most of what I find are for SkidSteers and weigh over 700lbs, bigger and heavier than what I want. I'm just going to be cleaning up/making brush piles, moving some pine logs 6-8' long. Any suggestions for a good replacement for the now apparently defunct EA grapple? TIA

I have MTL
Been good, no problems, lots of use from tree stumps to heavy long logs.
Most grapples will handle whatever your FEL can handle. In other words, your FEL will probably break before the grapples do.
MTL is also a much better price point. So I guess I am trying to help you NOT spend your money.

I second the MTL as I have one but mine is for my skid steer and it's about 1000 lbs, I understand that Homestead makes a nice light weight grapple for compact tractors.

Rakemaster single and double cylinder 54” modles are really sweet. Built like a brick **** house. A little heavy, but very well made. Can pluck small trees and post out of the ground with its unique plate clamp section. Very durable, and made about an hour from me in Perry Fl.

More on the lines of the EA product is Homestead Implements. They make very nice grapples as well.

I really like my homestead implements grapple, link in the post above.
60" is only 312 pounds

W.R. Long; I use the bolt on, single lid. I don't need to pick up gigantic piles but I have picked up piles that I could not see around. W.R. Long, Inc. | Grapples

I'm liking the MTL grapples. They weigh more than the EA grapples and cost less. But the one I want is sold out at the moment. "Sold Out" means there is more than a 12 day lead time and they are not taking any more orders until they get below the 12 day backlog. I'm thinking I am liking that way of doing business.

yeah, with the recent EA debacle, I can see that. I don't know what the lead time is now, but when I bought my Homestead grapple 2+ years ago, it was about 2 months, and like EA, it's pre-pay.

I bought a Titan/Ironcraft grapple with my tractor . It’s well built and work flawlessly.

When I work with brush, branches etc I use the
thumb on my backhoe and can also pickup
logs with it also but thats because I already have
the backhoe and just made it more useful with
the thumb

I considered the MTL but went with the Homestead Implements about a couple years ago. Haven't looked at the web site recently but when I bought mine they offered free shipping and a 10% discount for veterans. I haven't found a flaw yet with mine.

I liked the look of the Landpride models but found an 8 month wait. I fabbed on up instead

Very nice!! A little heavy for what I want, I wish I had some welding skills it would be fun to fab that up.

Mine is a Land Pride 1560. 60" wide - 820 pounds of A400 steel.

It's been a real jewel the nine years I've owned it. Land Pride does make lighter models.

Mine was in the dealers lot. So.....zero wait time.

Other things to consider -
- activation method for the grapple. I have the WR Long 3rd
function system.
- upgrading your grill guard. Limbs, sticks & stobs have a very nasty way of finding your grill, radiator & battery.
- rear counter weight. I have 1550 pounds of RimGuard in the
rear tires and a 1000 pound rear blade on the 3-point.

I have the 72" W.R. Long Open Bottom Grapple OBG-1, it weighs 685 pounds. The OBG-2 series is the lighter weight grapple, the 56" is 460 pounds. One thing to consider is the type of grapple, my OBG-1 has long tines on the bottom. The root rake style has shorter bottom tines, more of a clamshell design. Weight is comparable.

I like mine for being able to carry logs but there is a technique and learning curve to be effective.

I have an iron clad Brushhog and am very impressed with it.
