A lot depends on fast the driver notices the low oil pressure light...The orchard owner I worked for years ago had just bought a used Kentworth and was driving it home when the oil plug dropped out. He rebuilt it himself but I still doubt it was cheap.
With air brakes you can't just reach down and kill the engineA lot depends on fast the driver notices the low oil pressure light...
All the best, Peter
holyI was working on my largest farm tractor about 2 months ago during first cutting. Typically we are like walking zombies because of the work load. Anyway, I had to fix something high up on top of the engine on the “passenger side” of the tractor. I was not tall enough to reach, so I grabbed a 5 gallon bucket of motor oil to stand on. When I finished the repair, I walked around the tractor to the “drivers side”, climbed in the cab and fired it up.
I thought “sounds good, now I’ll back out of the shop”.
I forgot about the full, unopened bucket of oil.
The 5’ tall front tire immediately crushed the plastic pail of oil and it exploded like a bomb, showering 5 gallons of oil everywhere for 30 feet in the shop.
I’m still cleaning it up.
No, I didn’t have the camera ready for the oil bomb.holyit’s almost funny (to me, certainly not to you) do you have a picture of that ? it must of been a hell of a sight
My wallet cringed when I read his post, knowing what that stuff goes for these days.holyit’s almost funny (to me, certainly not to you) do you have a picture of that ? it must of been a hell of a sight
Yeah, it was a $100 bucket of oil, but the mess was worse. My wallet cringed when I read his post, knowing what that stuff goes for these days.
