Looking at 2021 TYM hst t474

I've been looking at newer used tractors for about a year now. Looking for more HP than the NH TC29D I'm running. About to close on land, 18ish acres that are open very hilly hay field that I want to clean up twice a year and groom walking trails, maybe every 2-3 weeks. The property hasn't been hayed in years, assuming because of the rolling terrain. My NH has trouble going up steep hills, going into L helps, but it struggles while brush hogging.
From what I read on here, I'd want to stay away from emissions, but which level? Just the DEF? I'm not sure what this year TYM has, possibly tier 4. I'd be putting on 300 hours or so a year. I've spent considerable time reading up on it, but still unclear what level the TYM emissions are, and what that would mean to me. Everything I've found online was about the bigger tractors, so I figured I'd ask here for laymens term advice and info.
Main use for tractor, brush hogging, pulling log length trees out for firewood, clearing forest land to create walking trails. They will be rough trails, not groomed lawn like open field trails.
Also, what are opinions on what level HP is needed for described work. Looking at a JD 3520 as well.

I went from a 35hp Mahindra that struggled with a 6' jbar brush mower to a 52hp Kubota Mx5200 that doesn't lack for power on our sloping hills.

I considered the TYM T474. Liked what I read about the kujke engine here on TBN. There is a thread here where one member claimed his Branson 4820 is actually better built than the TYM...I personally don't know, but you might want to look into that.

Regarding emissions:

Up to 25hp, no DPF, EGR or DEF. It still needs to meet the emissions requirements but can do it without all the extra stuff.

Between 26hp up to 75hp, it typically has a DPF, some brands also have EGR. No DEF here.

Above 75hp, has all of the above and DEF as well.

On the TYM vs Branson models, the Branson models are indeed much better built. Not that the TYM are bad by any means.

As I'm looking at used, haven't seen a Branson yet that would meet my needs. I'll keep looking. I'm ready to pull trigger, but in no rush. I want this to be my last tractor purchase...

Branson was purchased by TYM, so you'll see them at TYM dealers under the TYM name these days.

I think the TYM T4820 would be the Branson equivalent to the T474.

I'm no expert, however. It may be the T4815.

These would be the 4820 and 4815 under the old Branson marque.

I suggest using the search tool to specifically search these models for yourself. Some members have posted about TYM vs. Branson models in other threads and those posts may be helpful to you, but some of these members may not necessarily be regular posters who would see and respond to your thread.

The 4820 is a better match to the TYM494. The 4820 has a slightly smaller footprint, same weight, more robust rear end, and the front axle design of the 4820 has been preferred.

With the Kukje(TYM) DIESEL, they regen once every 100-200 hours? Not like other brands. They have a valve on the exhaust that restricts it to raise the temp to burn off... No fuel injector or burner in the exhaust. Also, TYM/Branson are mechanical injection, the engine does not use an ECM to run. Your DPF could "fall off", and the tractor will just run. A common rail engine would go into limp mode.

1) I think Hank Hamilton on Youtube has a TYM 474. He has several channels and not sure which focuses on tractors, but it may be a source for info on the TYM
2) consider overall size of whatever tractor/loader/brush cutter if planning to cut trails through trails. My personally experience several years ago (25 or so ago) I bought s home with a few acres. Most of the acres were in trees—not real thick but still quite a few trees. I wanted a bit bigger tractor, I was raised around row crop farming, and dome light livestock, and was drawing from that background. It bit me in the tractor even removing fenders (which made me uncomfortable) and sliding wheels in as narrow as possible would not fit between trees in many spots. Mainly I was brush cutting between trees, I mostly managed by doing lots and lots of backing into areas between trees from multiple angles. During this time, a friend bought a place even more wooded and wanted me to cut some trails through his woods. I walked some spots with him and told him there was no way my rig would fit. He ended up buying a subcompact to fit where he wanted to put trails. In that area, he could not find anyone then that would attempt to mow his trails do to equipment size.

Hank does not have a T474, it is Tony's Tractor Adventure you're thinking of. I have had mine for 4 years now and have 555h on with no requested regen. No problems as I work it over 1800 rpms usually. Very reliable engine and tractor overall for me, highly recommend. The 4 digit TYM Legacy series only drawback I've found is their 3rd funtion is just a one button diverter and looks clunky as hell when installed up front (huge). Otherwise I would recommend both the 48/5520 in a heartbeat. But the T474 has been a warrior for me, but it is a smaller capacity tractor chassis wise.

Hank does not have a T474, it is Tony's Tractor Adventure you're thinking of. I have had mine for 4 years now and have 555h on with no requested regen. No problems as I work it over 1800 rpms usually. Very reliable engine and tractor overall for me, highly recommend. I don’t often watch Tony’s channel, so not likely I was thinking of him. I know Hank has 3 different TYM tractors, having recently picked up a larger model. I’m not a TYM guy and the model numbers tend to run together on me. Not being mine, there is little reason for me to try to keep model numbers straight. Heck, I don’t keep up with the model number of my son’s tractor. Sometimes surprised I keep up with my tractors model number.

Hank's tractor, I believe, is a T574 and just recently got something even bigger.
