Kubota L2501 Turbo: A Journey Defined - The Tractor, The Comparison, The Modification, The Results

I haven’t posted in a bit. We’ve been super busy. The L2501 Turbo Kits have been on Back-Order for months and still are but, we’re slowly slowly catching up!

I appreciate everyone’s patience!

Turbos! Turbos! Turbos!
5 unpacked, 7 to go!

I don’t know if there is anyone on this forum that is waiting for a Turbo Kit but, shockingly, Turbochargers have been on back-order for the last few months. We had already purchased all available Turbo inventory from both our suppliers so this recent order of 12 Turbochargers will certainly help!

We’re looking forward to getting more Turbo Kits shipped out this month.

I’m looking at both the Kioti and Bobcat options.
I’m hoping we will have a Turbo Kit available for the CK2610 / CK2620 / CT2025 by summer.

Right now, we wouldn’t have any time to develop a new Turbo Kit but, we’re anticipating by the end of spring, we should be caught up and ready to go.

I would be interested in a Kioti 2620 kit when you create one. My only challenge is having the cab version with A/C if that would be a problem with space/fitting. Certainly no rush.

I thought I’d share a truly amazing L2501 Turbo Kit installation on a non-L2501 tractor!

An OrangeTractorTalks forum member has successfully installed the S2T L2501 Turbo Kit on his Kubota L3240 “Grand L40” series tractor equipped with a Grand cab, HST Plus transmission, D1703 engine and factory A/C.

As you might expect, the L2501 Turbo Kit didn’t simply bolt-on to the L3240, like it does on a Kubota L2501 tractor. The Turbo Kit required some expertly executed fabrication, massaging and minor modifications to complete this upgrade. The results, however, were well worth the effort!

And considering the size and weight of the Kubota L3240 Grand L40 series tractor, the Turbo Kit is even more of a welcomed upgrade, when compared to the L2501.

The new owner is now putting his mighty L3240 tractor, nicknamed the “Orange Angry Dragon” through its paces while enjoying its newfound Turbocharged performance at an elevation of 8,700 feet.

That’s needed at that elevation. Does it have oil cooled pistons?
Limiting factor is of course the weight. Those little machines are for light farm duties. Every machine has a purpose.

Don't forget about us 2620 Kioti cab guys!

I love my Kioti CK3510, but honestly I would also love to trade it for a 2620 Cab with a turbo kit.

I see more and more guys turning up the fuel screw on the 2610/2620s to gain power. Good for them, but I also see smoky exhaust that I would never want. But mostly I just want to hear a turbo and feel it spooling up!

I’ll admit, I certainly enjoy hearing the Turbo spool up on startup and listening to my mini-Cummins while working. The Turbo adds a whole new dimension to tractor operation.

The TYM/Branson 2515 may as well be another great candidate for a Turbo kit. That engine was offered with a turbo on some models at one point. They have sold and still sell tons of those tractors and people always want more HP, specially with those hydrostatic transmissions.

The newest Turbo Kit addition: The Kubota Grand L40 series L3240. This Turbo Kit will fit both open-station and Cab models with A/C.

Next will be the Kioti CK2610 / CK2620 (Bobcat CT2025). I still haven’t acquired one of these tractors. I’ve been looking for a used unit locally without much luck. So, I’ll likely purchase a new one in the next couple months and then we’ll get to work. Interesting enough, there’s also the SE model with Cab (and A/C) so we’d like to make one Turbo Kit for both models as we did with the L3240 but, we’ll have to see (we do know the air cleaner assembly is in different locations so there will be differences between the Kits but, we’d like to make minimal modifications between the two models to save costs).
