Pool excavate and level today.

Any Vortec powered Chevy from 96 up. They have their issues but will keep running. I’ve had 3 at over 500k miles combined, no trans or engine issues. Brake lines yes, fuel lines yes, exhaust work yes... Not saying anything wrong with Ford or Dodge from that era.

I run 1.5” brotek spacers. They do add some stability. I did it originally so my chains would clear in winter. 3” is 3”.....(that’s what she said)

Became a member of FMN. I am impressed! Went this way because the swing of a rotary mower would not have fit through my trails.

Fit and finish is serviceable, nothing stood out. It’s made heavy. No undue vibrations it does big, but only upon start up. When running you could tell I was in heavy grass, but no bogging.

@kenmbz, works well! Heavy grass and weed meadow. Some dead fall branches and twigs. And 1 trail it didn’t blink and the tractor ran it fine.

And a note, the actual flail drum spins for a good 5-10 seconds after PTO disengagement. That was surprising when the all clanked to a stop as o was getting off the machine. I did not see that in the book anywhere.

Didn’t have to cut the driveshaft, in cutting position is the shortest, with 4” or so of play.

Instructions show right to inside of mount and left in between mount. Mounts are symmetrical so reversed that. I wanted it centered on the machine, for my use.

The hitch on the back works for a jacking point. I have spacers 1.5”, can get the suction filter out with the wheel on.

I just leave mine hang. If you lower your mower all the way, then lift up on the 3 point lever, the hitch travels quite a way before the mower starts to move.

And I’ll add a couple things, the 1710 had a weep at the BH valve block when I sold it. The 1723 had the stuck fuel gauge and the loose BH dipper stick control. So a few minor issues. I am not soft on my machines as they are used commercially, but I do take care of them in between the floggings.

Sold my 14’ GC1710 at approximately 600 hours no issues. Now have a 19’ GC1723, 352 hours, no issues.

Probably even top notch, not sure why he chose the route he did.

I just purchased a Betsco 48” flail for the same reasons. I have a wood lot that I’m turning into pasture and some trails to mow with it. Allegedly good up to 3” stuff with hammers installed. I had the same concerns about room for a rotary mower and tail swing. My trails are 4-5’ wide.

It’s not ideal space wise, and the filter just fits in/out, but it worked.

Just went in from the outside “triangle” used a pliers type filter wrench to get the old one off.

And for anyone wondering, I have both the sentinel skid plate and the step. They are top notch and my machine is not babied at all, it is used commercially and on our farmette. Both have held up well, zero complaints. When installing the sentinel, the installer sucked and may have been drunk...

My dealer, Eckroth in Orefield PA carried them as well. I did my hydro change without removing, did need an extra towel though, lol

It can be compacted (plate or roller) I don’t believe it’s worth the cost to the customer and usually advise against it, but will do it if they want.

Wow, here (eastern Pa) direct from the quarry is about $11 a ton, delivered is about $20 a ton, retail is about $30 a ton. That’s for what we call modified, 3/4 down to dust.

Never have more then 2 hours into any stump, biggest was 24” or so. For customers, I limit to 18” or so, due to cost of me doing it Vs grinding. ((Shrugs)).....

Fill your tires! No problem taking on and off, just slide them around (and they can be hand lifted depending). With filled tires, on decent ground, I can move a full bucket of whatever material I am trying to move, without more ballast. With the backhoe on, the machine is a bit cumbersome...

The BH will be useful. Up to about 18” stumps you can generally do within a reasonable amount of time. Bigger can be done, but takes longer. Fill your rear tires, simple, best ballast there is. If I wanted to plant that, depending on depth of top soil, I would just cite aerate it and overseed.

I have a 48” King Kutter gear drive. Used relatively hard for 6 years, both in our farmette and commercially, no issues, it leaks a bit at the gear box to time shaft seal, so I too it off occasionally. I would not buy one of the ones that are made lighter for the sub compacts.

A 1723 will do all that you listed and then some. We use one on our farmette and commercially. I’ve done just about every tractor job you can think of with it at home and for customers. If you think you want a BH, get it. You will use it. Never had an issue with R4s, I chain up for snow. I...

Have a damaged bearing/bushing on my TG48” tiller, for the safety cover. The book that came with tiller, for the PTO shaft, leads me to believe that it was made by RPM Transmissions. I just need the bearing/bushing, any thoughts?

So the factory GM hitch on my 06’ 2500HD was showing signs of wear. The pin hole was starting to wallow. Replaced it with a class V Draw Tite from Etrailer.com, as well as a new receiver from Fastway. It pulls a lot nicer now. No idea what the class was on the factory set up, I used a 10k...

Temp fix Not worried about the bottom (no cracking) When I get roundtuit I’ll plate it with aluminum and rivit it in place.

Pretty involved job today, remove small stump, grade a bunch, place 11 yards of top soil, excavate walkway and place 3 tons of stone. Nice project and perfect customer (he was my ground man, and knew what he was doing). Backhoe, loader and EA BB.

Did a bit bit of driveway work for a friend. Was able to bring most of it up, and they’ll be able to push off getting more stone for a year or two. 4’ EA BB and FEL.

How the first one started

Couple of grading projects, 2 different yards, same family. Mostly tiller and FEL work. The second yard I had to establish a shallow swale.

Need an idea on what it’s worth, what year it might be? Runs, drives, hydraulics work but needs brake work (likely a master/slave cylinder)

Yes, a box blade will work fine for that. I just did an abandoned garden for a customer, same except no rows, the hills and valleys were random and winding. You won’t get golf course with a BB alone, but relatively flat and level is doable.

At home, finished up clearing some woodland that will be more room for the lawn ornaments, errr, uhm horses.

Small grading job, that hump was about 3’ on the low side, was expecting a stump, found a huge boulder. Homeowner smartly decided to make it part of the landscaping. EA box blade for the win.

Thanks it came out ok, the two ends were beautiful but the last 6’ or so I dug from the side, so I could get the machine out easily. The soil in that last bit was rock hard due to compaction from a triaxel and heavy excavator for a pool. Took as long as the first 25’... Ended up with a wow in...

I have pretty much the same set up. A harbor freight 9000/8750 runs out whole house with the exception of the water heater, oven, ac, and electric baseboard. I can run one circuit of electric baseboard at a time. The harbor freight gent lives in this:

Anyone do it? Trying to determine which rotation handle prop/holder support I need. I have the one for older machines that came with the blower. Had the dealer get a second different one, that could work but would have to be made to. Both of these are about 3’ long, there is a third in the parts...

2360 snow blower! Very happy to have found a used one. When I bought my gc 1723e I almost choked when they said $5k for one. Found one for half that in good shape. The hitch was the 9 hour run. I did find one that would have been a 5 hour run but they wouldn’t separate the blower.

Stoked! Sold my 2014 GC1710, yesterday, picked this one up today. Didn’t have much time to screw around with it but feels more refined from the operator seat. The 1710 gave me good service and left with 595 hours on it with zero breakdowns, hopefully the new one will perform the same. Got it...

Any experience? It looks like it’s leaking above the manifold at the bottom of the controls, I haven’t pulled the cover off yet.

I searched, and searched and couldn’t find a definitive answer so to answer my own question.... the regular Tractor Supply post hole digger will work with the GC series tractor. Although I did buy a RanchEx 9” auger in “small” instead of the regular TSC (Speeco) auger.

Having an issue with very stiff hydro pedals. I think it is a lubrication issue as the zerk will not take grease easily. I checked the zerk itself and it is good, I did attempt minimal heat but because of the location (close to the floorboards) it is not easy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

As the title states, I have a Massey GC1710. I was given a woods RB-5, rear blade. The blades 3PH mount is 19" between the pins, making it a cat 0 I beleive. Can I use this on my cat 1 hitch for snow removal?

Completed the service yesterday, good opportunity to crawl around the machine and get to know it. I switched everything over to Amsoil and the whole machine, HST and engine seem to run a little quieter. :thumbsup:
