    Gardens for 2021 season

soil temps here are WAY too cold for seeds. Have replanted some of the stuff 2 times and still nothing. Either too cold or I have soil insects attacking the seed! Anyway I will try 1 more time after it dries up and warms up and see what happens.

    Mid Mount Mower

Both have good and bad points! mids are better since only the little front wheels mash grass down, BUT they are a problem to get the deck out to work on it. also cant mow close to anything. with 3-pt mount the whole tractor runs the grass down, but you can back right up to something with them...

Going to look at a skid steer. What to look for?

Stay away from anything that has a bunch of computer junk in them IF at all possible! I know it is getting hard to do but that stuff in in anything is VERY problematic and you cannot fix it yourself! A contractor friend of mine here had a TEC. for a while, then went to CAT!

clumps are the worst to deal with! ---- I would rent a dozer and git it done, but thats just the way I work! --- I dont mess around with unknown stuff and still have to go do it the right way to start with! Saws bind for sure, shears are o.k. on singles but clumps??? dont think so!

    Trans hydraulic fluid

I use the TSC stuff, just got 4 buckets to use this summer, or at least start on! This leaky chit goes thru a lot just sittin in the yard a drip at a time! Leaks are nothing more than a little drip, BUT next time you need the tractor,----gotta add a quart! lol!

    Moldboard plowing

My Oliver semi mount requires 7 mph + to even start rolling dirt--- then its hammer down with whatever you got hooked to it! No pussyfootin around with that one. Cub plow on the other is designed for low hp, low speed, so all plows are different.

    Thread Sealing Tape?

I never tape or coat drain plugs on anything. never had any leaks either. I have welded on units with all that electronic crap----NOT a good thing to do but can be done---as already stated remove battery cables and ground very close to weld site. Any rule-of-thumb for replacing 4.5" cutoff wheels?

never had one break yet ----- not to say the next one wont. the guys that did our shed and house siding cut the sheets with a shear that makes a 1/8" ribbon as it cuts. clean cutting, fast, and no metal damage due to heating. I would never use grinders or saws!
