    Hay baler

this is just a hobby so I’m not looking to spend a bunch of money. I’ve got a 45hp bobcat ct4045 tractor. Is it big enough to pull a hay baler and how much $ would I need to spend? Just looking how to make the small square bales Thank you

    Grapple type

Looking at a Iron-craft ctgr60 for my bobcat ct4045. $1,500 price. Is this a good price on it? Will it hold up well? Looking to move brush, logs, rocks and uproot small saplings out of the ground I don’t use my backhoe on. Thanks.

Update. Read remote hydraulic was in down position, not neutral. Problem solved but not sure how to delete post off.

    No rear hydraulic

I’ve got a ct4045, 110 hours, making a hissing sound and I have no rear hydraulics. My front hydraulic’s on the loader works fine. Hissing is on the side with the hoses but I’m not seeing fluid coming out. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Collapsed culvert washout

Sounds like you understand what I’m saying. We had a huge storm last night. I’ll check it out next days I’m off and see how it looks. Nothing better I’ll try this.
  6. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

Yes. Sorry if I suck at explaining this. Water flows straight downstream. Loggers put a culvert in to cross it. They then broke the culvert. Over the years it backed up and cause a unnatural 90 degree turn into my field. I dug the culvert out so the water can now naturally flow downstream...

    Collapsed culvert washout

Soil is not sandy, just rocky. I’ve got tons of rocks everywhere. I do have some clay in a spot. I’ve got that whole another pile I can fill on the back. So the “V”, you suggest I dig out the middle and repack it in?
  8. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

Your spot on. I thought about throwing down some concrete mix but I just want to make sure the water will flow down stream before I do this or it would cause bigger problems. It is flowing better after I smashed everything down with the backhoe. In summer time this creek dries completely which...

    Collapsed culvert washout

Should I dig all that dirt back out and order a truck load of clay soil? take that other dirt pile and fill it in the back and plant grass seed?
  10. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

Sorry for lack of pictures and maybe I’m bad at explaining myself. “Digging it” got it right. The water was forced to turn a “unnatural” 90 degree turn when loggers broke the culvert. It busted. The creek is only 1 to 2 feet deep but the 90 degree turn washed 6 feet deep into the field past...

    Collapsed culvert washout

I’ve got another big pile of dirt. Would it be a good idea to dig out half of what I placed in it and smash/compact it down with the back hoe bucket and then place this on top smashing it down as I go?
  12. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

How much do I need and how thick? We’re talking 20 feet long by 2 feet tall roughly maybe not even 20’ needed.
  13. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

Also I took the culvert out altogether. I don’t need it. Loggers threw it in to get across years ago when I didn’t own it and I guess their the ones that collapsed it and started this issue.
  14. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

Darn. That makes sense. What do I do at this point? Can it settle over time under its own weight? I have another giant pile of dirt ready to go behind this one that would fill another few feet but it has rock in it. I’ve got about 18 hours wrapped up in this project.
  15. T

    Collapsed culvert washout

I’ve got a huge washout about 6 feet wide and 6 feet deep due to a culvert that was crushed years ago. I managed to use my tractor backhoe to fill it in and dig the culvert out but somehow the water is just leaking through the ground where I placed the dirt and running through into my field...

    Swapping pto’s

Thank you. I’m pretty sure it isn’t 6 inches but I’ll check it out next time I get a chance. Prolly just need to order one anyways, easy dumb expensive mistake….
  17. T

    Swapping pto’s

Haven’t hooked it up to the tractor yet but it slides right in same size. Not sure how much overlap I’ll have when I hook it up. I just didn’t know if you needed so much overlap to be safe.

    Swapping pto’s

I broke the male end of my pto on my cutter. Unhooked my cutter and drove away forgetting to unhook the pto from the tractor. Pulled apart and I reversed it into a pretzel…. Can I use the male end on my tiller to use on the cutter or is it too short and a bad idea?

    Price of pull type disc

Found this about 2 and a half hours from me. They said it’s still available but haven’t answered any of my questions on weight/pan size and spacing of the disc. Maybe they only made so many types in this 6’ size that could narrow it down? Looks heavy.

    Vines/briars getting caught in tiller

So I’ve got an overgrown field I used my cutter on and tried to till it only getting a couple passes and now having to stop and spend hours digging out vines/briars/grasses. So I can cut it lower, in future I can try and cut it at 3 hights to break things down better. But most the stuff just...

    Price of pull type disc

Well I was just trying to get really heavy. My main focus is maintaining a stand of switchgrass which will be about 4 acres. I also want to disc my food plots combing 1.5 acres. This is a 10 acre field nice and flat. Also discing for native forbs 50% disturbance. Maybe a couple acres. I’d...

  27. T

    Price of pull type disc

Yes the model I got came standard with rear remote. I reread your first post and see what your saying. On a disc that’s on the 3 point the tractor tires are pulled more into the ground making more traction. On a hydraulic disc with wheels the weight isn’t on the 3 point which isn’t pulling the...

    Price of pull type disc

So I found Athens plow company and seen a pull type disc 1646lbs giving 82lbs per disc. I have a ct4045 bobcat that’s 45hp and it’s rated for it but I was surprised how much heavier per disc this is than the normal 35-40lbs per disc I see. However I seen this one used going for over $5,000...

    Backhoe hoses won’t reconnect

I cannot get my hoses to reconnect for the life of me. I’ve been pushing on them forever, I’m gonna sore as hell over this. What am I missing? I moved the joystick on the front loader to relieve pressure and I moved the joysticks on the backhoe to relieve pressure. Thanks.
  34. T

    Storing backhoe, stabilizer arms bleeding

Yes. I can reconnect hoses and move them up. Everything is perfect working order, just wanted opinions on what I was doing.
  35. T

    Storing backhoe, stabilizer arms bleeding

I had already unhooked all the lines. I didn’t expect not to be able to drop them. After reading the comments though I’m gonna keep them pinned up and try being the bucket up so that cylinder isn’t out as much too.
  36. T

    Storing backhoe, stabilizer arms bleeding

So I need to keep as much of the cylinders inside as possible both stabilizer arms and bucket. I believe the log would hold it without tipping over. It’s 20” diameter, if anything I’ll cut another just like it and put them side by side.

Used trailer what to look for

So I’m not knowledgeable on trailers what so ever. Just upgraded my tractor and seen an old trailer from 1999 for $3,000 that is rated for my tractor/backhoe. The guy is a farmer and the trailer has been used to haul hay and a 75hp tractor. Never had brakes, axle or suspension replaced. I’m...

    Storing backhoe, stabilizer arms bleeding

I cut a 20” log as a backhoe stand to rest on. When I pulled away I thought I could bleed the stabilizer arms down just like I do my front loader bucket but it wouldn’t go. Is it ok to leave it like this and just let it bleed down on it’s own? Or do I need to completely raise those stabilizer...

    Tilling uncut grass

Thank you all. I won’t do it until I get my cutter. I’d rather not have a food plot at all this year and keep my tiller new for the next 20 years of using it than messing it up.
  40. T

    Tilling uncut grass

So my cutter still hasn’t come in yet and we have a lot of raining coming which is perfect for a fall food plot. Would it be ok on my tiller to till up a spot that has waist high grass/briars? I’d rather wait if it will cause a problem with the tiller and just assume to not have one at all if...

    Backhoe thumb not fitting

I just bought it about 2 weeks, haven’t even made the first payment. Backhoe thumb not fitting

So the top pin for the thumb won’t match up in the hole. Didn’t take a hammer to it yet but my guess is it’s off enough to where that won’t work. Doesn’t look as though anything is bent out of place. Do they all fit this bad?

    Backhoe bucket bent

How can I bend this back and if I have to get someone with a welder to heat it up will the metal lose strength? It’s not a terrible bend and maybe I should leave it but it bugs me being there. Nice lol. Yeah I’ve removed serval trees and gotten decent at it since I’ve bought my property. I went and got a older guy that’s a retired forester to help me and they’ve landed where I wanted every time after his advice. One time though I had a big tree I knew was gonna hit another smaller...

    Digging stump techniques

It would be much easier to not cut the tree first but it worries me of the tree falling back on the tractor. If I had a 15,000 pound backhoe or excavator I wouldn’t worry so much but it weighs a little less than 7,000 pounds. May try it on a tree that’s leaning first to see how it works. My...

I just noticed a bobcat ct 4045 only has a 3 cylinder engine. Looking at kubota's similar weight/hp class with L4701 is a 4 cylinder engine. How much power difference is this between the two? Also I've noticed bobcat has bigger hydraulic flow which means a loader and backhoe should move...

Backhoe attachment transport no front loader

Nice, I also considered dropping my bucket with the quick detach, raising my loader arms up and driving upwards as close as I can. My property is less than 15 minutes from my house so maybe it won't be an issue not resting the hydraulic for a short time when it's just the loader arms. That...

    Tiller or bottom plow?

You think the ground would be too soft to make the 2nd or 3rd pass if needed from the first pass? Something I didn't think about. Around October is when I'd disc for the native forbs through thick vegetation and it's pretty dry that time of year. Yes the backhoe must come off and I realize...

    Tiller or bottom plow?

I am looking at a L3901 with backhoe. Disc though I'm looking at DH1060 which is 549 pounds. If I add 200 pounds of weight to that disc I'd have 47 pounds per disc going into ground. That's equivalent to DH2572 disc. What pound is considered a "heavy" disc? My plots initially worked from a...

    Tiller or bottom plow?

Most my work will be in a 10 acre flat fallow field. My woods plot I feel I'd have decent luck with a using rip teeth off a box blade or eventually getting a spring tine harrow. Should have good luck with small seed such as clover/turnips.
  71. T

    Tiller or bottom plow?

If I could get by with disc alone that would be great. I just figured if I ever wanted to change a plot it would be nice to have a tiller or plow, especially for the initial breaking of the ground first time.
  72. T

    Tiller or bottom plow?

I would say 2 acres total food plots. Initially I'll have more getting switchgrass in but I'm looking to just run 10 foot strips around it. I'll disc a few acres to enhance native forbs but that won't be every year. I would say constant every year less than 2 acres.

    New kubota tractor advice

It is a natural creek. Years ago they put in a culvert to drive across the creek but it collapsed and backup the water which eventually washed out a rut into the field running down. It's not natural that it flows this way and the rut needs buried back and culvert pulled. This creek goes dry...

I'd like to upgrade to a Massey Fergosun 1739e tractor. Weighs 2,800lbs tractor alone. I'm wanting to dig a trench for a pipe and dig out lots of stumps average around 12 inch diameter. How long would it take a tractor this size to dig a stump? I live in southern Indiana and the land I have...

    Best rock removal

This is at a local rental place in town. They have skid steers that weigh over 8,000 lbs. This would have to be an easier way?

    Best rock removal

What is the best way to remove these rocks? Yes I'm able to dig them up but it's one after another and doesn't end. I feel like I could be here rest of the year. Got to be a better way. Looking to till this land up for a food plot and plant shrubs on the hillside like blueberries and...

    Digging ditch line

Trying to angle my box blade to make a ditch along this hill to help divert rain water from a driveway I'm putting in. After about an or so of passes this is all the deep I am. Is this the expeditions of a box blade or am I doing something wrong? B2601 kubota.

    Grapple bucket

What's the best grapple for digging up rocks and keeping them but letting dirt fall through? Also pulling up small saplings and small old stumps. Thank you.

    Box Blade or Grader Blade

Hard to tell in the photos but I've been able to build up this small section about 6 inches higher over 4 days of work using my loader. It floods bad in the lower spots. The water is coming in off the neighbors hill and down my hill meeting up and running across. I picked up a box blade today...

    Box Blade or Grader Blade

I have a kubota B2601 and live in southern Indiana. At my hunting property the drive is under water. I have mounds of dirt around knee some places higher that's full of creek rock from when the county put a bridge in. I'd like to smooth all these mounds down and build up my drive. I also...

    Clearing food plots

Been at this few months now. Clearing woods to run a tiller thru is feeling like an indefinite task. Considering a disc or bottom plow. Most my clearing is on a slight slope so when I removing stumps and rocks it's a little scary when the tractor picks up from the ground a bit on a slope...

    Tiller on food plot

Still new to owning a tractor. I picked all this clean, looked better before the leaves fell. My question is how much can my tiller withstand? Tons of rocks, I dig one out to find 5 more.... So I put the guard down so the tiller is barely scraping the ground. Still hits some sticks and rocks...

    New to checking fluids

Started the tractor and had light smoke coming out of the front. Looks like oil, not sure if would've continued to come out or not. Maybe I should've ran it for 10 or 15 minutes? I know fuel leaked out some.

    Hooking up a chain

Where do you guys hook a chain up to on the back of the tractor to pull out stumps and so forth? Thank you.

    New to checking fluids

Very new to tractors and I rolled mine yesterday. Got it on its wheels and left it so everything will settle, fluid wise, in case of leaks and it was dark. I did notice a small spill by the hydraulic fluid. I'm wanting to check all my fluids and not miss any been reading the manual and it...

    Tooth bar woods or piranha?

I've had my tractor for a week so I'm very new. When I purchased I ordered a woods tooth bar from the dealership, still waiting to come in and they will install. I'm wondering now though if a bxpanded piranha toothbar would be better as the teeth are closer together and not so spaced out...

    Stump removal

I bought a kubota b2601 tractor less than a week ago. I'm inexperienced with tractors as this is my first one. I'm wanting to remove saplings with front end loader roots and all so I can come in with a tiller for food plots. Love to hunt. This stump here is on the bigger side of what I'm...
