Relationships are work, constant work and if you are not actively self reflecting in a critical way and taking accountability for your role in bad relationships nothing will change. Its a hard truth but its true none the less. I divorced several years ago after 15 years married, it was awful...

    Making gas cans great again

While I've hated almost every safety gas can I've had I do really like my Sur-Cans. I use them for both gas and diesel and I find them really easy to use, they vent when you open the valve and they flow pretty well. They are great especially with my small 2 stroke equipment, very precise flow...

General lawn mowing with 54” deck

1/2” is too much, my Exmark manual says 1/8”-1/4” depending on mowing conditions. If you’re mowing short regularly you want less rake because the middle blade sits ahead of the two outer blades so they can overlap without hitting so too much rake forward or back can be much more noticeable when...

Any advice on 7x14 14K dump trailer for my new truck?

I personally wouldn't get the taller sides and just build up the sides with wood if you need it. Its nice to be able to take them off If I ever need to. My tractor can reach over the taller sides of my 7x14 trailer but if you'll ever be working with smaller loaders the low sides may be...

What did you buy this week?

I ended up buying the Exmark my dealer made me demo, he knows me. $5000 for the 2021 Radius S series 48" ($9,500 new) brand new ultravac bagger ($4,200 new, not pictured) and Exmark OCDC ($450 new) so I feel like I got a great deal. Got a brand new engine 100 hours ago. Sold my 2014...

What did you buy this week?

Got this from my Exmark dealer today to demo for the weekend. Looking to upgrade from my Exmark Quest. Comes with a 2 bag ultravac, 450 hours used at the local community college. It’s a Radius S series 48. I think I’m going to buy it.

Sthil Commercial Line Trimmers with 4 Cycle engines (still require 50:1 fuel/oil mix) - any experience

I measure with my arms, I'm 6"2" so my arm span is close to that and I pull 4 arm span lengths off the spool each time so I'm putting about 24' of .105" line in my Stihl Head. My Speed feed I can fit about 15' of .095 in.

Sthil Commercial Line Trimmers with 4 Cycle engines (still require 50:1 fuel/oil mix) - any experience

I actually prefer the Autocut head on my Stihl over the Feed Speed I have on my Maruyama for two reasons. The Stihl holds more line and I like the larger diameter of the Stihl head. A lot less line flutter at low rpm’s as well in heavy brush. Feed speed is easier to string up but I have to more...

Cleaning Under Zero-Turn Deck After Every Session: Really Necessary?

I went back and forth between stock hi lifts and Gatorblades and I've since stuck with the gators. They discharge just as well as the OEM but they throw finer clippings which disperse into the turf better and they are more forgiving with the chute blocker closed. In the wet they can plug the...

Cleaning Under Zero-Turn Deck After Every Session: Really Necessary?

For all the reasons I listed in another reply. Close it around things you don't want covered in grass. Leave it open the rest of the time. Side discharge allows for the best airflow and lift which gives the best cut quality and less buildup under the deck. If you don't want to scrape your deck...

Cleaning Under Zero-Turn Deck After Every Session: Really Necessary?

This is exactly what I do in the fall and spring to deal with leaves. Cleaning Under Zero-Turn Deck After Every Session: Really Necessary?

It completely depends on mowing conditions (wet vs dry) and grass type. Sometimes I have to scrape daily, sometimes I can go weeks. Either way it takes me about 5 minutes to do it if its really caked on. As for sealed bearings, I would worry less about them than the ones with grease...

The Stihl 4Mix engines are awesome. I've had my KM130 (Kombi unit) for 10 years now, it has been flawless and is by far the easiest starting tool I have and its unmatched in power. The downside is they are heavy, I used to use this as my main trimmer when I was doing lawncare but eventually...

I just sold my 261 because I was needing to use a 20" bar on it regularly and it just wasn't the right saw for it. As others have said there is no good way to prevent this when mowing wet grass, especially with a bagger attached. I do lawncare as a side gig and scraping is just part of the job if I have to mow wet grass. As for leaving the buildup to harden, all that does is make it more difficult to...

Ford aluminum body vs Ram steel - can the Ram do as well?

Believe me or not I really don’t care. Unless you own one of these trucks I’m not sure why you would even try to argue about issues you think they may have but don’t. Oil viscosity change for a 5.7 Hemi?

Oil viscosity change for a 5.7 Hemi?

I would not change the cold viscosity from what it is. Oil flow at cold starts is important, especially with all the components that function with oil pressure. I wouldn't hesitate to run a 5W-30 though. My old 5.4 3V Ford V8 was switched to 5W-30 at the recommendation of many experts when I...

Brown spots in grass after I mow.

I think the heat management is the issue, as well as muffler location. Yeah I think you should do some more research, 2022-2024 are all having major bottom end failures. Also Toyota is leaving people out to dry if the failure happens after the warranty is up. 20 inch chainsaw recommendation

That’s how the easy start works, pulling the cord is literally just winding up a clock spring that spins the engine over when you get to the end of the pull. If you just yank on it like a normal pull start it won’t work and will damage the starter. It’s not a great system on a saw though IMO...

    Husqvarna 555 chainsaw

Most dealers make more money on service than they do on selling new stuff. Sounds like this dealer was telling him the right thing, some things aren’t worth fixing if you’re paying someone to do it. To do a full tear down and seal replacement would cost a lot for labor.

Something else I haven’t seen mentioned here is don’t get hung up on just CC’s. A 50cc homeowner saw is almost always less powerful and also heavier than a pro saw which gives a better power to weight ratio to the pro saws. For example the Stihl 261 (pro) vs the Stihl 271 (homeowner). Both...

The Gen 1 3.5's didn't have phaser issues that the Gen 2's did, chains wearing is the main issue with the timing set on the gen 1. Clean oil is a must in any new engine and sadly its the most overlooked since most MFG's are pushing 10K intervals now which is a problem.

It takes some seat time to get the hang of it. I will NEVER go back to any other mower now that Ive had my ZTR for 10 years. I have hills too, never had any issues. They will out mow almost anything in both speed and cut quality.

I agree. Ive owned Husqvarna, Stihl, Echo, Redmax, and Maruyama 2 stroke stuff over the years and have never had starting issues with any except for one Stihl trimmer than ended back up at the dealer. I believe most of the non starting issues I read about here and other places are operator...

This is just not good advice. Best and worst chainsaw?

I had an MS250 for over a decade and it was a great saw for its price range for sure, never a lick of trouble from it when used within its duty cycle. I run a 20" on my 50cc Stihl 261, I can bog it in big hardwood if I horse it but overall it handles it just as well at the 18" it had stock. I went with the 20" to save my bad back a bit when bucking.

What a condescending and arrogant post. You may want to look up the definition of "tribal knowledge" because it seems you dont even know what that means. To the OP, as others have mentioned, yes its normal, bump up your RPM's if you can or drop a gear.

Dont know whats best and whats worse but I have had Stihl and one Echo. Love my Stihl saws, never a problem and they start very easy, my little 2511T echo is great too. Current Stihl is the MS261 pro saw, absolute ripper for a 50cc saw.
