I read that throughout my searching, and no one one specific page. I believe it was going up hill in high range.

IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE, so be it. Back in the day they would drop you off a tractor for a demo and you could try it. No so much anymore. Whatever I buy I just don't want to be disappointed, or realize the I bought the wrong tractor. I do feel that slow hydraulics would annoy me.

Small price to pay. (My gear shifting days are over) Now that I think about it, my Mother has a JD4200 that gets a little slow with the hydro on a hill, But not bad.

In truth, There is probably no bad choice only slightly better for different reasons.

The problem is related to the small hydro pumps. The BX will not operate the loader at idle spend, not even empty. Not enough hydro pressure. This was a huge negative to me. I like the ability to make small and slow loader adjustments when working in sensitive areas and projects.

My LS 2023 has no problem with high range. I keep it there all the time unless I'm doing dirt and gravel work. I do everything in the 1400 to 1500rpm range.

The BX will have no problems on hills but it is made to rev. It is not a low idle machine where you just have it at idle all day. Rev it up and run it and you will not be disappointed. When I first got it I had to get used to that but found it really does not affect anything. You can be just as slow and detailed with the loader with the motor running higher RPMs on any quality machine.

And even at high revs, the BX will just sip fuel at a leisurely rate. Well, my BX23 does anyway.

I don't think it's "made to rev". I think that's more of a secondary result to having a smaller hydro pump.

Actually with some research you will see that engine is made to be run continuously at the higher rpm without any reliability issues. There is a BIG difference between a 800 RPM ship engine and our little Kubota power plants. Granted the smaller pumps have a need for the higher RPM thus the reason this type of engine is used.

That's essentially what I'm saying. The engine may be designed to run at higher RPMs, but it's being used in the first place because of the pump. It's the pump that's dictating the engine.

You definitely haven't done enough research on LS. They have been making tractors for many years. Like stated before they make tractors for quite a few brands - I purchased a J2023 for $12300.00. Try doing side by side comparisons. The lift capabilities on the J2023 is comparable to 27 to 30hp competition tractors at 30% to 40% less cost. I did alot of researching & in the end the LS is hard to beat.

I have a little update on my quest. After reviewing and shopping I am finding this.

Kioti- great tractor. not great for a backhoe, or ergos for me

Kubota- Expensive for what you get. A lot of preconceived issues with performance of hydraulics. So far this tractor BX25 is sized about right for me (along with the Kioti)

Mahindra- I think I will avoid this tractor. ALL OF THEM look like **** on the lot and they are all brand new. Lots of surface rust, and fading plastic. - Not only that, but not really a deal so why bother?

John Deere- Fantastic tractor, but I think it is going to be too big for the place that I live in. Its not a whole lot bigger than the Kubota, but it is. I fear that extra couple of inches may haunt me. Still undecided. Have a great bid for one at 193000 out the the door including 7.7% tax.

Massey Ferguson. 2 hour drive away from me and they dont have one int stock.

I would really like to see this tractor in person, but they are far far away if something happens.

LS Tractor- Called and talk to remote dealer. he was too busy to engage over the phone and price over phone indicted they more expensive then anything else. I think I am going to pass on an expensive no name tractor - Just me.
