$2.39 Gas

Saw an article in the business section of the Sacramento Bee last week where some expert said gas price could drop to $1.15/gal in the next 12-18 months. Says supply is really building fast.

Don't know what he was smoking.

Last fillup for the F-150 at Arco last Friday was $2.69/gal.

Nope, Willie and his bus got stopped for a safety inspection and the officer smelled pot, search and found same as well as mushrooms that where used for more than garnish. :D

Arrested Willie, the other bus passengers, and the driver. The driver has might loose his CDL.

Later,

Seems like the price free fall on gasoline stopped at $2.119 and the diesel is coming down slowly, it was $2.549. It's coming down a penny or two every other day. Remember the days not long ago when diesel used to be cheaper than gas? All the little CUT's running around must be keeping the demand up.:) I saw the President posing next to a gas pump with a big Cheshire grin pointing at the price. When it was going up like crazy he said it was beyond his control, when it's going down, he's not going to miss that photo op.
 Oh yeah, Poor Ole' Willie. Gets his name in the news, probably sell a lot of records off of this deal.;)

I bet 100 to 1 OPEC has a meeting before 12-2006 and cuts production to bring prices back up....

Lowest Gas I've seen: $2.599
Lowest diesel: $2.899

Why is diesel staying higher?

and yes I do think the gas/oil industry does fix prices.

With the rampant hatred of the oil industry, for more than 30 years, you'd think someone, somewhere, at some time, could have uncovered some evidence of price fixing. No one has, yet people still think they do.

The only segment of the gas/oil industry that fixes prices is OPEC.

If they are not fixed, then how come in a given area all of the stations regardless of brand have exactly (to the penny) the same price. And change them on the same day. I just don't think our government really wants to get to the bottom of this. Big oil gives too much to political campaigns. All I hear is a bunch of politicians saying they will look into it but nothing useful ever happens..

I don't care how they are arrived at, if the prices at all the stations in an area are the same the PRICE IS FIXED. It's like a "Black Box" in engineering, You look at the input and output characteristics to determine what is going on. Only then do you look inside. Someone needs to determine from the input (costs vary even if OPEC is the same) and Output (price remains relatively constant in an area). The processing and delivery cost for all oil companies cannot be the same so something is clearly holding the prices constant.j
