You are so full of it, it's unbelievable.

Ok, maybe not 9K but 8K. And all will tow that weight better than the Eco Diesel.

Don't forget also the Ram can't legally tow it's listed tow rating due to its low GVWR. 7500# is its real world limit and it's been proven to struggle with that getting stomped by both Ford and GM'S gas trucks.

The Eco-diesel is not a serious truck for work. It's for the guy who never tows anything serious and needs a little bed space from time to time.

Probably not much help, but my '96 ram 2500 ec lb 4x4 and 3.54 gears with 5.9 gas originally would get about 13, 14 under the right circumstances. Larger tires and a tired engine later it get 11... 8 mostly now though because it rarely moves anymore unless it's loaded down or has a trailer following it.

As much as I'd like to get a diesel, I will probably either put some work into this or will end up with a hemi or 6.0 chevy for my next truck. From what I'm hearing I guess I can't expect much improvement over my 13 or 14 from before... though I will have quite a bit more power at my disposal.

I believe it can't if there is not sufficient GVWR to obtain the proper tongue weight. If it were not for that it would be fine, just a little dogish for today's standards.

And yes, I will stand by my statement comparing a 15 year old diesel truck to today's best gassers. It's called progress.

And by the way I never derailed anything. I told him numbers for gas and diesel 3/4 ton trucks then brought up the Ecoboost as an option. My numbers seem to jive with what others are getting from their 3/4 ton trucks. The Eco-diesel RAM was not brought up till much later.

our well-outfitted Laramie Long Horn 4x4 was rated to tow 7,300 pounds.

That doesn't fit what the OP is looking for. Not even close. So, let's just leave it at that and move on, eh?

My 2013 regular cab, 4x4, 8' bed with a 6.0 gas will get around 14 to 16 on flat roads and no wind, at 65 mph. Any stop and start drops it to an average of 12.

fordmantpw - that's an interesting link. I'd be curious to know how many miles were on those trucks when tested. I've been able to get into the 14's on my 2500 HD but it ain't easy. Those guys made it sound like they just hit the A/C and went for a joyride. I also didn't see what type of fuel they ran, "real" or "corn?"
