3005 replacing the 790

It's nice to know Deere is keeping this fine tractor around. However, I wonder how long this will be since Deere and Yanmar ended their partnership.

Look to see if it's a Yanmar engine. Not sure but I thought I heard they might be from some other country.

Went to the JD dealer this morning and saw the 3005. I like it.. better alternator, better front axle and engine that meets California emmissions. I thought it sat a bit lower then the one I looked at last year but this 3005 had turf tires and the 790 had ag tire. The dealer said he thought the sheet metal had been "smoothed". The lines on it looked good.
Price was not to far upwards from last year. I had a MMM and Mid PTO priced in so I could compare the 3005 to the 2320. The 3005 with 300 loader , 61" bucket w/cutting teeth and a 60"MMM on the 3005 came to $20,000.08:eek:
The 2320 with a 200cx loader w/53" bucket and 54" on ramp MMM came to $17,642.64

The price difference is largly due to almost $500.00 for a mm pto on the 3005,(std on the 2320) and the 3005 heavier loader is $3825.00 compared to $2740.00 on the 2320.

Both are great machines having just sat on them. Like everyone now it's up to me. Kind of leaning towards the hydro on the 2320 just for the ease of use. I haven't heard any problems with the hydros. It would be nice to have the 3 speed hydro that Kubota is coming out with. I'll be going back there next week.

Anyway, I have attached some pictures of the 3005 in this post. I'll post the 2320 pics in my next post so the dial up members aren't wasting time looking at something they don't want to see. Both of these machines are the new 08 models.

And yes: The new 3005 engine is a Yanmar.

What is the HP on this new tractor? The 790 and the 2520 shared the same engine. I wonder if this new engine will also go in the 2720. JC

Here are the 2320 and a few shop pictures. I took more 3005 pics because they haven't received any literature yet. I have the 20 series info.

The salesman said the "new"3005 is still rated at 27hp just like the 790. I think he told me 24 PTO HP. I wish the 3005 had a folding ROPS for working under trees and getting in and out of my barn. I'm not sure of the total height but I'd say around 6 1/2' Floor to top of ROPS. (80" would be about right).

I kinda hate to ruin the weekend by saying something dumb to the wife like, "Oh yeah we need a bigger barn too".:D

That's what was in the manual (link posted earlier in this thread). That's exactly the same as the current 790's output.

Sorry I haven't been on too much. Got a job in a foundry (Quality Manager) and it's keeping me on the road a lot.

Is it just me, or did they change the rear turf tire size on the new 2320. Looks different??
