Hey Muxster. The JD dealer I was talking to told me the changes were a 40 amp alternator, 790 was 20 AMP, California emmision compliant engine, and front axle upgrade. I work with several guys who have 790"s and none stated any problems with the mentioned upgrades.

Does the John Deere 3005 have a vertical exhaust or horzontial exhaust system.

Hey, good catch ct12. From elalexander's earlier post with pics, it does look like an exhaust under the body. I guess Roy isn't going to be upgrading!

Someone mention about a 25% increase in hydraulic pressure; Is that true?
I wonder if it's a retro upgrade? I could use it!

When I was at the JD dealer a few weeks ago they had no new information or literature on the 3005. It may be on the JD website. I kind of like what they did with the exhaust. My tractor has a vertical stack and when I have to go around trees it can be a pain. A stack and a nonfolding ROPS would be a real pain for sure. Unless you like to catch small limbs and have them let loose and smack you upside the head.

Nope, I'm not...
I am glad to see Deere came to their senses and kept this design around though.

As far as the exhaust and ROPS vs. low hanging branches...I just lop off any branches that are in the way. That's as I mow the lawn or field early in the season.

Same with me Roy, I kind of like my 790 and at ~400 hours it's barely broken in. Of course, I don't have many trees to snag things on. Might be different if I had a different property.

So does the 3005 have a HST? If it does then I think that Deere will be able to compete much better with the L2800/L3400 from Kubota. The 790 dropped off my shopping list once I found out that it didn't have a hydro. I'm sure that's been the case for others.
