The only thing I'm really concerned about now is stability. The smaller tires are more stable but by how much? I guess I could flip the tires to the wide position if they're to bouncy or unstable.

Without running around to find my BH manual, if I recall correctly Deere advises the rear tires set to the wide position when BH is mounted.

Well, if stability is a worry then you should get some wheel extenstions. My rears are just abit shorter than my 60" bucket. It's not going to be any noticable difference between the two. Deere does state the tires need to be in the wide position with a hoe on(as cinder stated). Like I said don't get too hung up on the tire size I think either one will serve you perfectly.

OK GWH, sounds like good advice.

+1 on the advice. If I happen to get a BH, I am going to go for hus extenders or a 4520!:D

The Hub Extenders are expensive Nuru - I'd go for the 4520 instead.;)

OK this may be my stupid comment for the day, but after reading your post and thinking about it for a moment, I have no idea why JD recommends having the wheels in wide position with a BH installed. When using the BH I have the loader on the ground either flat or turned upside down and basically with the front tires unloaded. On the rear with the stabilizers down the rears are either mostly unloaded or slightly off the ground. Even as such, the BH if hooked on a good stump will drag the tractor backwards sometimes. I could have bicycle tires on the tractor and they would be sufficient.

Maybe I should give it a try, but I doubt that setting the brakes and leaving the tires on the ground will keep the tractor in place andy better. Maybe, I'm missing something important in the way to use the machine, so if experienced BH operators have any advice I'm open. Most of the time I see anyone using the bigger Case etc they always have the wheels off the ground.

Cinder,
I think it adds stabilty when moving the tractor around, that's why they advise it.

Cinder the wide position has nothing to do with digging. When you have a 2200lbs 8' high hoe on the back if makes the tractor less stable while driving and doing loader work. Thing about it the hoe is sticking up higher than any other attachment while in the folded position.

I actually agree with that...While I have faith in my machine, I just feel leery of slapping 3" or more of extensions on each side with the aluminum housings...heck I probably wouldnt do it even if they were cast iron. Rather then get 3" extensions I'm actually designing my new garage to fit a 4320 cab (9' Door)...Just In Case...
I think your just asking for trouble by slapping a Hoe on a machine with extensions...mowing the grass and tilling the garden, I wouldnt worry because the weight back there isnt a concern.
