Rob

Try Hillman rollers Hilman Rollers / FT Series

We moved a big mill to a friends house that was sitting on ground we jacked and cribbed it up til it was level with trailer put skates under it on trailer backed trailer under it added skates to back and centered load put it on 4x4's bolted it to bed and reversed the procedure to unload it we did it with a portapower a forklift would have been great.

It did take along time to do all this but didn't cost much!

Tom and Brandi, that's for the kind offers, but I think I'll get a machinery mover to move that piece of equipment. Dropping it is not an option.

Brian, I would think they have a minimum and I'll look into it more. Depending on the machine(s) sized and weight, they bring along their own forklift with huge capacities and super long forks. I could have them bring up my lathe and my forklift at the same time, and perhaps the other mills and surface grinders as well. Depends what it will cost. They also position the machine right into it's place for you, so that has a bearing on it too. Once I get my forklift up there, I could move all the machines into position myself except that large lathe. I might be able to put it onto machinery moving casters one end at a time and move it that way. But still, getting off a truck or trailer would be the problem for me.
Thanks for asking.

An update on what's happening with the log home.
We got our front door stained and clear coated, but no hardware yet. It's on order but several weeks out. We got a Lodge Pole pine stump and are carving it for the guest bathroom downstairs. It's not quite done yet. It's hollowed out in the back where all the plumbing is. We also got our Hampton wood burning stove set in it's corner, ready to get the smoke stack put in.

They started painting some of the rooms too. Downstairs near the stove is Loretta's office which has a matching slate blue color on adjacent walls. Upstairs we painted a couple of walls with some red (kind of) to see what that will look like. When the dark rose wood floor goes on, it should be make for an interesting loft area. Our carpet up there in the bedrooms will be a dark green, so I'm hoping it will tone it down a little. But Wes is happy. The rest of the walls are either wood or textured with an off white/beige color.
They got our closets ready with shelves and poles too.

The Alder cabinets got clear coated.
I think the wood has a beautiful natural color to it. I'm going to wait until more of the detail work such as all the door handles and knobs get installed and some of the granite, sinks and that kind of stuff before I post more photos. Maybe wait until they are almost done to do another update. Last will be the flooring and tile work I'm sure.

Thank you Brian,
Yeah, the front stairs need to go in yet.
You see the railing around the decks is not completed either. Looks like they are diddle dallying around a little. Now that you mentioned it, they still need to make a connection for the breezeway from the home to the detached garage. We have to design that since there was no exact location for the garage in relationship to the home. So that is a big thing yet to accomplish. It has to have a similar look and feel with the same metal roof on it. It will connect to the kitchen/dining room deck entry on the North side.

I'm hoping to see some real progress on the interior in the next few weeks so the next batch of photos will be show some finished areas. We picked out our granite slabs (5 of them) for all the counter tops last visit up. They say those should be done and installed in 2 to 3 weeks. So then all the sinks tubs and faucets can be installed right after that.
That will be nice.
