Holly mackerel, you guys are great!!
Since we've been up here just doing "regular chores", I didn't think there was too much to be posting about. But I see you guys all care and are very considerate. Thank you for asking...
Here's an update.
Yes, I've been very busy around the ranch.
The Chickens are BIG now, but we are still waiting for the first batch of eggs to arrive. That should be real soon now.
I got some Actos Blue Sequoia trees planted and got the watering system going to them. They are like Coastal Redwoods are should grow nicely in this area as long as there is water for them. We also got the entire garden watering system complete. Did a lot of trenching and ran over 1200 feet of PVC to feed each of the orchard trees and garden beds.
We got another ballast tank and booster pump to use the 5,500 gallon water reservoir to irrigate with.
That will continue to freshen up the water in the tank as we use it and it doesn't affect the house water system. We have a valve that can throw the water from that tank to the house system in case our well pump breaks down. So now we will have both water and pressure for the house in case of a break down. In the mean time we use it to irrigate the garden and also the steep slope behind the home.
We also got gutters put on the home and decided to get those copper rain chains.
I still need to have the rain chains come down to the ground into collection box or drum so I can channel the run off down the hillside. But here are some photos of that. You can also see a couple of the Redwood trees we planted in the fore ground.
The latest thing I've been working on is making some furniture out of the Oak logs.
I will post some photos after I get them loaded up. I made some simple stools for the rear deck patio. They are tall enough so you can see over the railing. They are very rustic and were easy to make. Since then, I took on a more ambitious project of making a living room coffee table. I took a huge Oak stump and sliced it in half. My plan is to butt up the trunk halves together with roots sticking out on each end and also down for legs.
I'll have to post photos for you to see all that.
Thanks again fellas, you sure made me feel better.
