3rd Function install Summary on DK40SE HST

I had posted awhile back asking the best way to run lines and such on the 3rd function install. I got some great feedback and just ended up finishing up the project today, so I figured I would post what I did with some pics just in case someone else is looking to do this.

In general it was pretty easy, there are a few things to be aware of and I will note those when describing what I did.

First, here is the kit from EA that I got that is specific to the Kioti DK40SE. The hoses are to the correct length and the mounting bracket for the 3rd function valve is specific for mounting as you will see in a later pic.

You can see here the valve on mounting bracket, 10 amp fuse, new handle for FEL joystick, bolts for mounting bracket, adapters for the Power Beyond (PB) under the seat and the PB port on the FEL valve, and lastly the hoses (6 of them), 2 for the PB, 2 to run from the valve to the loader, 2 to run up along the loader arms to the grapple.

You have to remove the seat, this is not hard to get the bolts out but the seeat is heavy and awkward to get off the tractor without someone to hand it too.

Here are the 2 adapter installed, first one is the one under the seat, the 2nd one is the one on the FEL Valve which is located under the right floorboard

The one under the seat is easy to install, you can use a socket. The adapter on the FEL valve is a little harder since there is limited space to get a wrench, but it you keep moving the wrench around you can eventually get it tight.

I will follow this post up with the 3rd function valve mounted and pics of how I ran the lines.

OK here is the 3rd function valve mounted, you can see the PB lines (larger ones) coming into the front and the 3rd function lines on either side in the back coming out. I used some pipe insulation around the PB lines in case the rubbed it would rub against the foam. I had to bend the mounting bracket slightly so the PB lines wouldn't hit the underbelly of the tractor body.

Here is under the seat where all the lines were ran including the wiring for the valve from the 3rd function handle. Took a few attempts to get the lines so they would run correctly.

And here is where I ran the 3rd function lines down next to the FEL valve so all the QD's are in the same place. I used a hose strap that is mounted to one of the FEL Valve mounting bolts to hold the hoses in place

I don't show the hot wire for the 3rd function handle, but I ran that from the 3rd function handle, under the seat, and then used a fish wire to fish it up to the fuse box area and crimped it to the back on the fuse box using one of the spare terminals it has. It is hot when the tractor ignition is in the on position.

Here is the 3rd function handle installed, I had to cut the stock one off. Also the joy stick is round all the way to the top, then it flattens out to a large tab, most likely to hold the rubber handle on. You have to cut the tab off, the 3rd function handle will not fit over it.

I used rubber coated hose straps on the loader arms to mount the hoses

I then used tie straps towards the end of the arms. I think there could be a better way to mount these and I will look at making a plate that has a angle to it, but for now this should work

Last pic is the grapple mounted

I started it up and NO leaks. Grapple works.

One thing I don't like is the QD's just laying over the cross member of the FEL up by the grapple. I put some clear 3M adhesive on the cross member so the metal QD's wouldn't scratch the cross member all up. But again, I might look at fabricating a mounting plate.

Well that's it, it's not hard, just take your time. Hope this helps someone who is looking to do it.

Nice neat installation. This is how I mounted my QD's for a snow plow. Originally I did not have a cross over relief and just used a piece of angle iron for just the QD's. I used the hydraulic tube bracket bolts on the FEL.
