What's the absolute smallest Kubota or JD CUT one can consider putting a 4-n-1 on.

I know you can put it on a lot of machines however that would sacrifice function due to weight considerations.

Where is the line drawn?

e.g. Carver is almost apprehensive about a long 4-n-1 on a B2910. I'm trying to determine what "almost apprehensive" really means.

Doug, my guess is that you almost answered your own question. I think there's no doubt you could put a 4-in-1 on a B2910, but I think there's room for doubt as to whether you'd be happy with it because of the additional weight. You'd be reducing the lift capacity of the FEL and you'd always have more weight than normal on the front axle and tires. I think I'd be "almost apprehensive" myself. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Doug, I think it all depends on how you use your loader. My B21 has 980 lbs. lift and I think the 4-in-1 was going to add some where around 200 lbs. to the loader which was just to much lose for me. There are several people on the forum that have added them to the same tractor I have and love them though. Just depends if you can live with the loss of lifting power. Oh ya, and live with the writing of the check. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Those things just seem to have so much potential. But they hit the bell curve on this class of machine I guess.

One thing I've learned lately from renting machines is it would be easy to buy a machine that would be too heavy. Determining if I buy too light will be much more difficult as the litmus is measured in time.

Anyone who's reading ... it's been said before, I simple cannot emphasize enough, that if you are considering a CUT and are not sure what class to go with, GO RENT A MACHINE OR TWO. 400 clams is a pittance compared to the price exacted were one to buy too large or too small, i.e. the wrong machine.

Thanks guys.

DAP:

I have a Long 60" 4-in-1 Bucket on my Ford 1520 with a 7108 FEL. The 1520 is comparable in frame size to the TC30 or Kub 2910 or JD 4210/4310, but only has 23 Hp. The 7108 FEL, I believe, is only rated for about 700 lbs lifting capacity, and probably loses a little with the 4-in-1 on it.

All that said, I love my 4-in-1 and wouldn't be without it. I hardly miss the loss in lifting capacity, and that is easily offset by the greatly increased utility of the 4-in-1 over just a standard bucket.

When I can afford to upgrade, I will probably go to a TC33DA to get the extra Hp and lifting capacity of the 14LA loader, but I will definitely get the 4-in-1 bucket with quick attach, so I can easily change to a standard bucket, pallet forks, grapple, etc.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate putting a 60 inch Long 4-in-1 on a B2910, but I would get the quick attach system and probably keep the standard bucket for bulky or heavy materials. That way, you have the best of both worlds /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
