My next question is what type of 3rd function do you have? I’ve learned the Massey option is a diverter.. but I was told it was a true live 3rd function
Massey is a diverter control, which is all you need. I cannot think of a function that you need live.

So it looks like they may switch the 3rd to a wr long bc i was adamant in wanting a true live 3rd function. I’m just glad I followed my gut to go see it vs what I was just told. It’s almost like I could benefit from just getting one of your phone numbers who owns it to find out how to work this thing since the dealer apparently doesn’t sell many..

Was it cold? That makes it slow. The sequence on the fender controls are down, up, down. On the console, it's up, down, up.

It was nearly 78 earlier & only in the 60s last night. I had driven it some, but not much, maybe 5 minutes. If that’s the case I can only imagine how slow in the true winter. Ha. I know it had full power to the tractor when it first turned on and didn’t have the warming light/partial power.

I wonder why the reason of up down up and down up down and not just work instantly the way you want?

I have noticed slow operation also on the rear lift, and found the problem was the draft control was turned off totally and it didn't like that at all.
I turned the draft control to medium and the speed went up and down fine. Strange that I would actually like to slow down the front hydraulics, whips that bucket around, very fast acting FEL.

I had the third function added for my Long grapple. It all works fine

They have the sequence for safety reasons

Thank you! Is that the knob that is to your right on the post near the key? I never quite understood that knob but also hadn’t looked into it because I didn’t get a good answer )or one that I could understand)from the sales guy. I never have done much plowing but a decent amount of other tractor work since I could reach the pedals.

Is it the Massey dealer 3rd function diverter or wr long true 3rd? I’m guessing it is a WR long grapple also you mean?

On a side note I’ve just seen/driven the tractor a couple times at the dealer (it’s taken them a while to get it all together.)

WR Long solid bottom grapple, WR Long 3rd function I believe. Why is WR Long's equip different?

I personally like the diverter style 3rd function. Push the button, wiggle the lever to do what you need to do, let go of button and back to normal. Works great on a grapple

mine has a rocker switch

You have the factory setup?

I have no idea where it came from, sorry. I can ask. I think it's all WR Long, same thing they had to do with my Kubota when it was installed instead that time I got two pushbuttons.

Maybe MF thinks not enough flow? Not sure, I found out from someone else at MF it’s only on 5 series with their special transmission..(can’t remember what he called it).

I agree, that works perfectly!

actually they replaced the entire joystick unit because what they installed was dirty and I groused about it. I don't care if it came out of the box coated in crud, clean it up....which I had to do.

The MF appears to be a double button setup vs a rocker. Same functionality to me, used them both, no preferences.

There is only one button. This picture is with the diverter installed.
I guess they make the joystick for the larger models also and add another button but not on the 47xx series. I’m not sure why they don’t on this one, but they don’t. I’m just used to using a rocker vs one button and losing dump/curl. I’m sure I could learn, just prefer the other.

Soft drive is NOT the same as float.

Soft drive diverts oil to a "blatter" to soften the bounce (shock loads) of the loader arms, as the tractor hits holes ect..

It makes having a loader on your tractor, much easier on the tractors front end when you are moving over rough ground.

My tractor has both buttons, soft ride is an option for the 4th button. It also can be used to lock/unlock the "lock" that holds the bucket (or what ever tool you have on your loaders arms) so you don't have to get off your tractor to change tools.
