Your off size tires must be a issue. Mine has the factory size on 18" wheels. 17mpg interstate is low for any diesel of that era with 3.73 gears. I had a 05 Dmax before this Ford and it would fo 21mpg with no mods. My neighbors now gone 2007 Dmax did the same. I know a couple Cummins guys who do about the same.

What is the orginal factory size tires?

Recently bought a 2006 F350 Lariat CC SRW LWB FX4 with 3.73 rear end that had 131k miles from a friend of the family for a farm truck/family hauler. I had it checked out by a ford mechanic friend before I bought it and he didn't find anything wrong. What mpg are others getting with similar trucks? Also what is normal turbo psi for running 70 mph on fairly level highway? Everything is stock but tires may be slightly bigger than original. These two questions are with no trailer.

Congratulations, that sounds like it will be a great truck for you.

FYI, maintenance timing and specifics are much more critical on the 6.0 (and later diesels in general) than older ones. Example - fuel filter changes, and type of antifreeze used. Plenty of 6.0 owners got in trouble just by changing anti-freeze/coolant, and not using the proper spec fluid.

You may know already, or your Ford buddy recently got you up to speed on 6.0 maintenance, but it's important enough to repeat.

Enjoy the truck, that is a nice ride !

I have had several 6.0 PSD trucks. I had a 06 4x4 crew cab 6 foot bed King Ranch. It was stock except a 2" leveling kit in the front and a Bully Dog programmer. If I kept it under 2K rpm I could get 22/23 on the highway. The mpg would drop considerably if I was over 2k. As a whole it averaged 16.5

Thats right in line with mine and the 04 F250 I had before.
