****, I'm thinking of buying ammo for guns I don't even own yet. If anything, it could be used for trading stock for something else. Everything becomes more valuable in a shortage....

It's good business to stock up on reloading components, if you can find them at decent prices they likely will only go up in the future, even in a normal buying environment. I usually buy my bullets in bulk, then make sure I have enough primers and powder to load all my bullets, then I start all over again! From what I've been seeing these last few days, most of the local gunshops have primers and powders on hand since around here they do most of their shooting gear buying earlier in the year. They may not have the brand of primer you want, but they will probably have the right size. I have favorite powders, but if they don't have the exact powder I'm looking for, they probably have another kind that is almost as good for me. I haven't resorted to any panic buying yet, but if I run across any component I use at a decent price, it's going home with me. I figure it can't hurt to have twice as much on hand as I usually have, eventually, it's going to get loaded and shot, either next summer, or the summer after that.
One thing I have been stocking up on for years is 22 ammo, you can't reload that and you can keep a large amount of 22 calibers in a relatively small area. Since I started on them several years ago, I don't have to worry about a temporary shortage and them and that allowed me to buy exactly what I wanted and not have to resort to just buying what was available on the shelf when I went to buy.
Another good way to buy reloading components is to get a like minded group together to pool money and buy your stuff in large quantities, saves a lot.

Thinking like a business person now. :)

Ammo rounds might buy more than silver or gold. Gold is so expensive it is hard to make change on small purchases. Silver dimes and quarters might be handy too.

World's Largest Supplier of Gun Parts, Gunsmith Tools & Shooting Accessories - Brownells

Message one home screen sounds like they are out of a lot of stuff. Read they sold 3.5 years of volume of magazine clips in just three days.

Folks this time may be different. Have to say the 'mental environment' concerns me. Many are preparing to be able to 'spray' lead.

Even the old 7.5 Swiss ammo is back ordered and like who buys that anymore except old people. :)

I sure hope not, I have always bought in bulk for cost savings and to have some on hand for just such a case as this which I felt was all but inevitable. I don't believe I have it in me to use any of my weapons against anyone who is not a criminal intent on harm to me or my family.

I think that people believe a ban will be implemented on 'assault rifles' and hi-cap mags and that the ban will be permanent so this is your 'last chance' to buy this stuff. Not sure why .223 ammo is going so fast, maybe just to make sure they have enough to use their guns if bulk ammo is also made illegal.

Saying that high-powered, military-style weapons and ammunition have no place in San Francisco, city leaders on Thursday announced a proposal to ban the possession of hollow bullets and require anyone buying more than 500 rounds at a time to notify the Police Department.

If they have "no place in San Francisco" does that mean that the police are going to do away with theirs?

"Ammunition designed especially for law enforcement and the military has no reason to be in our homes and on our streets," Lee said

The idiot shows his stupidity: the military generally does not use hollow point ammo.

Also, most of the rifle ammo shot by normal citizens is not hollow point.

Oh well, what would one expect out of San Francisco politicians?
