Yep Soundguy, but then they clearly state that they will not pay for the vehicle repair /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I would listen to the auto dealer they are the ones that are warranting the vehicle. Amsoil only warranties the oil.

no, it means that you the user must use the proper API grade of oil as outlined in there manual.

Again, if anyone does not like it don't use it; but, I will say my oil will perform better then with dino at some 3 or 5K interval.

Email amsoil if they are incorrect. I just have better things to do with my time then change oil at some certain interval and use some group 2 or 3 oil.

Since I would HAVE to guess no one will step up to the plate, I will email them for the 100th time and wait for email.

Love to see what they say, maybe lots or none has changed since I asked them last time for this .............

Mike and Dargo,
First I respect the heck out of both of you, your knowledge, and opinions. I share many ideas with both of you.
I have a few points to add.

Warranty means the mechanic gets paid 1/2. I used to look for any way I could to void a warranty. Just to put food on my table and pay my tool bill.

Mike your Vehicle service practices (synthetic oil, oil testing, etc) are exemplary. I feel the same. I have no doubt that your methods work extremely well. You will never have an oil related failure.

Drago you know the way AUTOMOTIVE dealers and manufacturers are. They will get out of paying if they can. I've seen it many times. Even if they have to pay the labor is 1/2.

Mikes oil is better at extended intervals than junk at short intervals. But manufacturers will look for a way out.

Now this is the first go around I have seen between 2 Pro synthetic guys. We all need to regroup and get an old fashioned synthetic vs. dino rumble going. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

edited to add the word automotive in front of dealers.

That was my whole point. They are in the 'golden' seat. They sell an expensive ..albiet 'good' oil product. The alure of the extended change inteval is a big selling point.. however they have the caveat that you must follow the auto makers specs or the warranty is void. Looks like they win either way. And don't have to pay for repairs.

What's the point of emailing them if their website makes the above claims about following the automakers warranty/ info?

Yep soundguy a good take on the situation. I am not saying at all that Amsoil is not good stuff and I use synthetic oil in my aircooled small engines, where the high temp protection is needed, and the added cost is minimal. On my vehicles though I just use a good grade of dino oil and a reasonable filter and change it about every 3-4 k miles. Worked good for me for 30 years or so /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
