Yeah, wouldn't expect to spend money on something like that unless I'm big on moving a lot of hay rings around on a routine basis and I didn't have an FEL which is probably unlikely. I could fabricate something just like it if I needed out of all the myriad bits and pieces of tubing and channeling in my scrap yard in an hour or less. An old bit of drill chain welded to one of the vertical supports would do the same thing. Five minutes work.

Not to be negative, just honest.

Just so I understand,,,,this is an attachment that fits on a hay spear to pick up a hay ring ?

It clamps to the hay ring and you slide a rear or front spear into to lift and relocate. Ken Sweet

I can see the benefit of having one but I also agree that I would have to have a lot of hay rings to move around regularly before I could justify the expense.
Are you getting any feedback from the people who have purchased them?

If it extended the life of the hay ring it would pay for itself quickly. I've seen more hay rings ruined from tractors than from cattle.

The FEL spike works great ... and yes a careless operator can wreck a hay ring. I wonder how tough it would be to get off? Some of my hay rings are 7 years old ... if that unit bolts on I bet after that many years a bolt would be hard to break loose.

i personally think is a pretty great idea for older guys like my neighbor.. he is getting on in years.. and still takes care of the cows.. well, something like this means he doesn't have to lift the ring out of crap.. mud.. and what ever else.. all the better. looks like it lifts high enough to put over a new round bale for feeding..

great idea.

That is what they are designed for. To keep you in your tractor seat and out of the mud and away from any unruly cows. We have used front loaders for years and when moving rings, we usually misjudge where the loader is and bend the rings. Ken Sweet

I use a three point spear and here is why I wouldn't buy one. In reality, you've got your ring sitting on slightly uneven ground. Your cows have been crapping on the ground all around it adding to this. Your spear has some movement side to side. Now I'm going to try to back my tractor up and spear this small hole with the end of my spear. I may be wrong but I just can't see it being handy in a real world application. Maybe if those guides were somewhat wider, I don't know.

If you can center up on a round bale of hay when you spear it, you can easily hit this lead in. Ken Sweet
