Any Interest in this New Invention?

I don't think that would help. My bale spear is considerably longer and harder to aim.

I've been using my own design for considerably longer than 6 years, mine incorporates a roof over the ring as well to help with snow and rain on dry hay. It works awsome and hitting the hole is not nearly as tough as you might think. The roof does add quite a lot of weight but still less than the bales. I have been using the same ring for 8 plus years now, and it is still servicable. I think one of those will pay for itself many times over. If I didn't already have one I would definately buy.

I am somewhat surprised by the replies.

I see a lot of rings around and Ken's product looks be a very clean and effective to move them. It keeps the operator clean and certainly benefits the herd.

This is about the 2nd invention I have seen here on TBN in the past couple of months. Remeber the JakeRake.?? Another attachment that I thought would serve a purpose. Kinda cool to see the human mind at work.

Best wishes to both.

I'm no farmer and don't recall ever having been within arm's length of a hay ring, but I seems to me that the whole concept is backwards. Instead of having to buy a device for every hay ring, seems like one device on the tractor would be better. Maybe changing from the spear to the ring lifter and back to move ring and hay in the same afternoon is enough of a pain to warrant investing in the multiple items.

How many hay rings do you fellas own?

Ian

The rings all vary widely in configuration as well as material constructed of. We sell light duty, med duty, Heavy Duty and HD plastic rings. All different in construction. Ken Sweet

Ken, I like that attachment for those who move their hay rings often. With lots of animals, I'm sure the area around a bale becomes a muddy/manure mess pretty quickly. I'd expect a spear that might bolt on the side of a boom pole would also be handy. That way, you could have a bale on a front FEL spear and move your ring with the 3PH on the rear at the same time. Even so, as it is, if you set the bale down, you can easily get the ring and drop it over the bale afterwards if you aren't moving very far.

At first I didn't understand it fully, and it seemed like more effort than it was worth. I didn't consider leaving it on the ring. Now that I understand I think it's a great idea. I'd have given good money for one this weekend. I don't have a loader on my tractor, and it's no fun getting a ring that's frozen to the ground unstuck. Trying to move a ring that's no longer round can also be frustrating, especially when going uphill. For $75, it's not worth me rounding up materials and welding up my own. That's a very fair price
