ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

After reading the posts of the first TBN'ers to receive their L-39 TLB'S, I'm anxious to see one in person. Anyone in the CT.-MASS. area who has spotted an L-39 at their local dealer, please reply with the dealer name & address.

Thanks:

Chappell tractor in Milford NH had one a few weeks back but when I went back a week later it was gone. At least we know they are making their way into the area. I took some pictures the day I was there - you can see them here .

The pictures are big so they may take a while do download.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

Walt,

Mine just showed up in Vermont on Tuesday. I went to check it out on Wednesday. They're quite impressive. It's got an absoulutely huge growth on its rear end /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The only ones being shipped to dealers in NE right now are sold. I signed my papers about eight weeks ago. Dealers won't be getting them to show on the lot for quite a while. Especially since each dealer only gets two or three machines I'm told....Most are or will be sold prior and will quickly go from the dealer to the customer.

Jim:

I've been following your tale of the L-39. I am contemplating the L-39 vs. the L-4330-4630 models. I need to kick the tires per say, and operate/test both models before making my
final decision. Judging by the TBN'ers posts, I probably will have to wait until April or May to see the tractors side by side.

Please post your L-39 experiences as they accrue. I bet there are others who will be interested in your first hand knowledge.

Thanks:

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

Walt,

I made another trip north (1 hour) to the dealer this morning /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It was in the garage getting the block heater installed, but luckily that was complete just after I got there. They were just about to load the tires and I told them not to. The hoe should do it for rear weight and I'm hoping to mow with it. We'll see if it cuts ruts in the lawn.

I took it out back and played in a huge frozen snow pile for about 30 minutes. It's not a huge amount of time on a machine, but I was able to determine the following: The hoe is extremely percise. You can move it in very accurate small increments if necessary and it flows beautifully side to side while you are pulling in the stick or boom. There is no hesitation at all (dual pumps) when operating two levers at once. With valves wide open, it's plenty fast to dump and cut, etc. There are two hoe locks, one on the boom base to arrest front to back movement and one next to it for side to side movement (transport). Both can be easily pulled right from the seat.

The loader can not be put in the same category as an Ag loader. The movements are also very tight, smooth and stong. There is no banging or clanking at all and the difference between the L39 loader (TL 1000) and my LA723 is quickly obvious. It's fast and has a huge weight capacity. Loader controls are right where you want them with a comfortable and well positioned arm rest. The view of what you are trying to scoop up is fantastic due to the sloped hood. It really does make a difference.

The GST Transmission is something I'll need to get used to. I have to say I wasn't head over heals about it. I'm used to HST and I like HST, but I'm going to have to learn how to use GST. The engine sounds a bit louder than the L3830 and I think it's the same engine. Likely it's the muffler type or layout. It sounds different...a lower growl type of sound.

It turns on a dime. It seems like it could do a full circle inside the tightest circle my L3830 could manage. I've said it here before, but the size just seems perfect....not too big and not too small. The seat is heavy duty with excellent support and a nice suspension. The seat is very easy to move to the hoe position and walk though.

Work lights are nice. FOPS is a nice addition. Big thick steel step to get up to it with teeth to get a good grip and clean off mud. It's very easy to quickly get on and off it. I put all my weight on the outer edge and it didn't move. I think it's welded right to the frame.

Another thing I noticed in comparison to a JD 110, is the width and the height. It looks wider and more stable. It is also shorter and seems a bit lower to the ground due to the shorter rear rubber. At first sight from the rear, it looks a lot more stable (feels it too) and it is definitely smaller overall than a 110. I stopped at the JD dealer on my way home and looked at one again. I don't think it's as sophisticated electronically, but it costs less.

HOWEVER.....This thing is not cheap and I would hope and expect all the things I mentioned to be the case. One hopes to get what one pays for. If you can afford it and need such a machine, I would highly recommend that you wait to make your purchase, and at least take one for a spin before you cut any checks. You'll be happy you did.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

As it's been a month since my original post, I checked with my local dealer. He stated that Kubota has them scheduled for L-39's to be delivered in April. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
It doesn't appear to be April of 2005.

Still waiting to see one in person. I may have to drive up to Vermont to Jim M's to see one before summer.

Walt,

Any time you want to come up....

They're talking about June now for the next round of machines. I still don't have a bunch of stuff I paid for, who knows when that will arrive.

Maybe Kubota is getting caught up. Saw an L39 at the rental center last week here in Indiana.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

TBN'ers:

Finally, an L-39 sighting, and it's in my driveway. My L-39 was delivered this morning, from Leahy Equipment, Holyoke MA.
I saw another at a dealer in Newington, CT., I think the dealer name is PBE Inc., if anyone is looking.

I'll attempt a photo, then it's off to the tractor to play.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

OK, I'm jealous. I saw one at Chappel Tractor one night on my way home, and I liked it. There is/was one at Toreku tractor in Harvard MA that I crawled all over.
I'm sure you'll be very happy with your new toy/tool.
Hopefully I'm not being out of line, and you obviously don't have to answer if you don't want to, but this is the buying/pricing category. How much $$$ did you pay for it, and what did you get with it? Financing?? Warranty?

Thanks!

Walt,

What a fine machine! You will be happy. I'm continually blown away at the capabilities of this relatively small machine.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

Definite learning curve. I'm starting to get used to mine after hours of use starting a road project. You just kind of forget about it and do the shuttle shifting without thinking about it.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

boshea:
Some answers to your questions:
1. Price: $35,500 & 750.00 for front hydro kit.
2. 0.0% for 36 months, until 30 june 2005
3. Warrenty: 12 month on entire machine, 24 months on drivetrain.

As with anything in demand, not much room to negotiate on price, but bought from a dealer that has given me great service for the past 5 years.
The next purchase is a root/rock Grapple rake. As I'll only buy a grapple once, I'm leaning toward the AnBo.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

Jim:

No tractor time today, as I'm working overtime to pay for this
back & body saver. As noted in my last post, I'm looking at the AnBo grapple. With that, I'll only need to get off the seat to refuel the tractor and myself.
I have hemmed & hawwed all spring, but once I saw & operated the L-39, I was sold.
When the dealer called me to say it was in stock, he gave me the first opportunity to test it. I was hoping he would keep it a secret until I could get there. I guess that makes me a "tractor geek"/ now happy owner.

Thanks again for your past info. relating to the L-39.

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

Walt, I got a super heavy duty ToothBar from W.R. Long, it is quite a stout piece, you'll need it for the L39, I have already snapped a 3/8" Grade 43 chain rated at 5,400 pounds with the L39's FEL, using 3/8" Grade 80 with 12,000 pounds now!

P.S. You'll get used to the GST easily enough. I usually start out from stop in 7th gear and simply shift around from there, higher gears to go somewhere and lower gears to maneuver around. No need for clutch except when you want to feather it out for more control or start off from stop in 10th gear or something. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: ANY L-39\'S ARRIVED AT YOUR LOCAL CT.-MA. DEALER??

I'm still wet behind the ears when it comes to tractors, but out of curiosity, I stopped by Goldstein's Lawn and Garden in Westport, MA (508-678-0381) and they had an L39 on the lot. That is one nice machine, but WAY outta my league! The L3400 they had looked like something I could handle.
