I am in need of a small trailer to pull behind my four wheeler.

I will use it to haul stuff like rocks, firewood, landscape materials, etc.

I would like for it to be approximately the same width as the four wheeler or maybe just a little wider, but it needs to be able to negotiate the woods trails without hitting obstacles that the four wheeler will clear.

Can anyone post some pics of their trailers or give me some ideas?

Check out this link: LMI Welding Quality Metal Fabrication

(small Montana company that makes their own stuff)

They make both basket and flatbed-style ATV trailers (see links on their home page for pics). These are single-axle trailers for use with quads.

We bought their 2-axle UTV flatbed trailer years ago to tow behind a Gator and Rhino, and it has proven to be very well-designed and built. I made removable sides for it, and it will haul just about anything!

That is almost exactly what I was looking for. Thanks

Do a search for Reid Trailers, they are out of Connecticut. The box is 4x8 and it has a remote dump feature. The other nice feature is the ball coupler as it can be pulled by an ATV, tractor or your vehicle on the road as it has lights if you need to transport it someplace. Another option is Bosski, who makes a dual axel ATV trailer that also dumps. I like a trailer that can dump so you do not have to handle the material twice, makes for more productive work.

I built this to pull behind my atv and B7100. It is 3x5'6", tracks perfect behind the 4 wheeler, and weighs about 120 pounds- strong and light. I am thinking of making a couple more and selling them locally- from what I have seen online, I can build them for much less, sell them for less, and have a quality product. Walking axles are cool, but the simple straight axle on springs is simple, strong, and easy to repair.

For the money, I don't think you can beat the Polar ATV trailers sold at Northern. They make various models. Check out the model 8232 or 8233 which I have. It is bombproof, light weight, has dump feature, tracks great and works flawlessly. The price is also reasonable. I recommended it highly and it generally gets great reviews.

That's a good looking trailer. Will an ATV fit on it?

I will look into those also, Thanks.

The inside width is 34"- a small atv would, but in my case, more importantly, a snow blower will fit on it. After looking at different atv/offroad trailers, including the wild prices, I decided on a simple, light, strong trailer that will track the same width as the atv, be as easy to pull as possible, and be as simple as possible. Because of how walking axles work, they are subject to a lot of leverage and stress. The ones that I have seen in person/in use suffered due to heavy loads. Honestly, I think that my trailer will go anywhere a walking-axle trailer will, due to tire size and clearance. I have a spring running through my yard, with very steep entries and exits. I can drive my 4 wheeler (Honda TRX 300) with the trailer through any point, and nothing- tongue, axle, or rear- of the trailer hangs. I have hauled heaping loads of hard wood on the trailer, which both my Kubota and atv handled well. I was looking for a trailer that would run in the tracks of my atv, be easy to back up, haul as much or more as my atv is rated to handle, be easy to work on, and to take camping. So, I didn't design it to be able to haul my atv on, and then take it into the woods- it would have been too wide. Again, the dimensions are 3x5'6", with 10" sides, leaf springs, sealed bearings, 3" channel tongue, pressure treated deck, and 12" tires. I plan to paint it, but I was very eager to test it out.
There are a lot of trailers out there to look at, and to fit every taste. I wanted simple, adequate, and as cheap as possible.

I got one of the BX models on this page. Utility ATV General Use Trailers
Its good as you can haul the atv on the road and then its only 3" wider than the atv for hauling in the woods. Ones with ATV tires are probably better for the really rough stuff but for my trails it works good.
I've hauled almost 30 cords of wood with it over the years, in my woods and on the highway, and it survived an 800lb apple crate being dropped into if from a couple feet up... It was supposed to flip and drop the apple in but it slipped off the forks and down it went... Kind of like those pickup truck commercials where they drop gravel and pallets from great heights!

I have often wondered about picking up a old jet ski trailer to use with my atv. Seems as though you could fab up a bed pretty easily. It may even serve double duty by actually being able to transport the four wheeler behind the truck also. Anybody else thought of or tried this?

I second the Polar trailers. They work hard, hold a lots of weight and don't get stuck in the woods.:

Thanks for the ideas. I haven't decided whether to buy or build yet. I will have to do some figuring and see what kind of money I'm looking at both ways.

I made a couple trailers that are made to haul the ATV at interstate speed yet light enought to be towed by the ATV thru the woods.

It would be hard to build one cheaper than the $200 Harbor Freight trailers.

I will have to seriously look at starting with one of those and modify to desire.

Thanks
