I'd have to say that's the "advantage" of building yourself. You know all the mistakes, and don't have to wonder if there are more, if this was done correctly, or that, etc.

Yea, I'm still going back and fixing some of my mistakes. I built mine, doing all the framing, electrical, plumbing, roofing, doors, windows, paint, trim, fixtures etc myself. Sometimes there were those moments when I didn't know the best way to do something, but I had to keep going, so I did what was best at the time. Course I didn't have TBN to ask back then either. The best part of doing it myself, was keeping the cost down.

I'm still amazed at the size of the logs in your house. I helped (very little) a couple different people building kit log homes, nothing like yours.

Yeah I bet the prep was very time consuming looking at that... Often the prep is 75% of the whole job, I find... Why is there an outlet above the stove? That's what is looks like at least...

Okay, the outlet over the stove is moved, relocated 16 inches to the left, already patched and painted. Can't even tell.

The guy from the countertop place came yesterday and took all the measurements so in a couple weeks I'll have some tops on those cabinets.

I stopped by the County Friday and got my latest set of plans. They need changed again. I put "future bathroom" all over the diagram of the bathroom walls because my inspector said I had to draw them in. Now they're saying either build them or take them back off the plans. It never ends.

Solar is 99% done. Guy is coming Sunday to finish up last details and then calling for solar inspection on Monday. That will be a huge relief.

I really got nothing done today. Next Saturday is the memorial service for my Mom. Since I was elected spokesperson by my siblings, I will be doing a "tribute". My siblings emailed me their special memories today and I'll have to say I've been blubbering most of the day. I never really took much time to grieve with all the deadlines I have had the last couple months, but it caught up to me today. This is going to be tough to pull off. I'll be flying to Ohio Wed and will be there a week. Still have deadlines here, but they'll have to wait.

Sorry about your Mother. Similar situation for me 1.5 yrs ago. MIL passed away at a pretty critical time for the house (racing to get enclosed before winter). While there is never a good time for it, there are times when the impact would not be quite as big... Talk about stress on top of stress.

Bo,
Deaths of LOVED ones never come at a good time. My prayers go out for you and your family.
