 Congratulations! When you stand back and look at what you have built for yourself and your bride, relish in the sense of pride.

I am so happy for you and your beautiful bride. What a wonderful day, what a heck of a lot of work to do to get settled. Yet, it is now your official residence. Very, very cool. Congrats.

Congrats! I know you've put in an extreme amount of hard work on your home.

also glad you are over the frustrations the local yokels placed on you in the form of building codes. they are probably down there right now trying to figure out how you overcame their hurdles and voting in more so that the next guy might throw in the towel when faced with such absurdities.

The report I heard is that they are still looking for that inspector. Seems to have disappeared. I wonder what happened to him?

Mr. Fuller The project looks good and Glad finally finished.
Maybe have a party and invite all the naysayers and inspectors as well the encouragers to day of celebration.

Weather wise how has this winter been?

Saw where Flagstaff road had been closed and maybe snow in your area.

Now the next project.

Ken,

The Winter wasn't too bad. We did get a few medium snowfalls. One was about 20 inches. It's all melted now and beautiful out, though I'm sure we have more cold coming.

Several projects lined up. Currently I'm planting 6 fruit trees - peach, pear, Bing cherry, Rainer cherry, Granny Smith apple and honey crisp apple. Then I need to get busy on a drip system for watering them.

Tied into the drip system is another project - rain water collection. I have a 1100 gal tank and all the parts, I just need to put it all together.

Then I'm working on installing a zip line for the grandkids (and me :)). A couple of the boys will be here with me for a couple weeks this Summer. They will be 9 and 7, so I'm sure they will keep me busy.

Hopefully this Summer we will start the full length front porch with a 2nd floor deck. Then there's the back porch/mudroom project, then the upstairs bathroom, then the greenhouse, and on and on.

I officially retired at year-end but I'm working 3 days a week, training my replacement. In June I'll cut it back to 2 days a week.

If you're ever in the area, give me a holler and come check the place out.

Contrary to popular belief, I did not bury him. 😄

Sounds like you are "loaded up" with work and projects for the year.

When I think that I started this project at 62 and now have the home done at 66, I'm tempted to say, "bring it on, you whipper snappers".
I don't know how many guys in their twenties and thirties that I sent home because they couldn't keep up with me. 😃

Old guys rule!!!

You must be 1 tough, crusty ole good guy. I'm amazed. I'm 55 and my knees are my weak link. Carryover from motorcycle accidents and hacky sack back in college days.

Yes sir, it's ironic you say that, you know I am only 43 and been working on the Mississippi River since I was 20. The younger work force coming on has zero tolerance for hard work. When I decked, we used a lot more rigging to put these barges together. Now there is a lot less, more streamlined. I have never heard the likes of complaining. Or just people wanting a break every time you turn around . We work in extreme heat and cold. That don't change. But they ways things are done has been put in the deck crews favor. You'll never here older folks complain out here. LUTT

Yesterday we planted two Apple trees, a honey crisp and a Granny Smith. That's 8 trees and a lilac bush we have planted so far. This week I get busy on the drip line system for watering.

Congratulations on retirement and how well the house is coming along. It's beautiful. I just retired my self, last Friday. It has been such an interesting journey. I appreciate you taking the time to share it with us! Best wishes and keep those projects and photos coming. Troy
