B2320, B2620, and B2920

I did some looking into this. It is now marked on the lever that when the mid PTO is engauged the rear spins at 960. The B7510/B7610 are also this way. I never realized this, its also marked on these tractors but the labeling is not as clear. The Grand L-series also spins the rear PTO when the mid is engauged. You can always run just the rear, but the mid can't run without the rear.

I can see how this could be a pain because it prevents you from mowing with a rear implement attached. However, to lower the mower deck down you also drop the 3pt as well so any implement that would be back there will be dragging anyway. One big benifit of this is that you have a 2-speed option for the rear PTO. If your running a rotary cutter you'd have the option of running at the higher PTO speed and keeping the engine RPMs down to compensate for the higher gearing.

Yeah, I've tried the 2 speed trick with the rear PTO on the B7610 a few times. As I recall, the engine RPM had to be held down to around 1440 RPM to maintain 540 at the rear PTO. The rotary cutter seemed to work OK in light stuff, but that little 3-banger seems to be alot happier turning 1800 to 2000 RPM. Didn't want to spin the cutter up to 700 or 800 RPM, so went back to the regular 540@2600 setting.

Seems like the second speed for the rear PTO might be useful on something like a broadcast seeder or maybe driving a PTO generator if you knew the load would be light. Can't think of much else.

Are all the new B's like that or only a certain HP, if thats the case I guess I know that I will be pursuing the B26/3030 instead

Messick's - Thanks for the information on the PTO operation on these tractors. I think they have been like that for a long time. Same with the mower lift info. I wish it was separate from the 3 pt., but I put a separate cylinder on mine to lift the mower by itself. As far as the 2630/3030, I don't think the PTO operation would matter because they don't have a two speed rear PTO. I am not sure, but I presume you could use one or the other, maybe both at the same time as well.

Anyone brought home their 2920 yet? Any more pics? First impressions ??

I've called all around my area, and have yet to find one in New Hampshire. Is there some sort of conspiracy against us ?

I finally heard from a dealer that got a B2920 w/FEL in late last week. They're going to call me to go in and see it as soon as they get it built this week. I'll try to remember to throw the camera in my truck tonight so I have it with me when I get the call.

I can't get prices from any local dealers yet on the B2920, and some of the figures I was seeing here on TBN made me think I'll be getting the B7800 or B3030. But, Carver's just put pricing up that makes it look as if it still may be in the running. MSRP on the backhoe is over $500 more than pricing I've been getting for the larger BH75, so hopefully the dealers are selling well below MSRP, or I think that will end up being the deal breaker for folks looking at the TLB setup. I will get pricing on the B2920, B7800, & B3030 TLB setups when I stop in this week, so we can all get an idea of where this new machine is priced compared to the 2 bigger models.

Hopefully by Friday, I can report back with impressions and pictures. None of the 6 dealers I've talked to have ordered the backhoe, so I think it still may be a while before we get to see it on a machine.

Probably nothing more than an improperly tightened hyd fitting, or just as likely, a spaztic salesman or potential customer making a mess when seeing how the hyd fittings connect & disconnect. ;)
