B2320, B2620, and B2920

The engine on the B2920 is larger (77 cu in v.s. 68 cu in) than the engine on the B2630. I think it is not physically larger, but uses a longer stroke.

Well I tried a B2920 today! Very pleased! I found my tractor. The engine is smooth running, not as loud as the 2630's, comfortable seat. The sales person hadn't tried it yet either until today, he was impressed, big competition to the JD 2320 was his words, big improvement to the 7610. Only odd design is in regards to the PTO. The selector for selecting Neutral, 540, or mid PTO is also the same lever to engage, i.e., no longer two levers. The clutch needs to be depressed to shift from Neutral, 540, or mid (2500). Also, when the mid is on, the rear is also on rotating at 960RPM, kind of strange for that speed. When the clutch is depressed the PTO stops. Since it is an HST, only time clutch is pressed is to select/engage PTO and to start the tractor.

am I reading this correctly clutch on HST??

If the mid and rear run together and there's no way to control each independently, then that would be another step backwards for me (I already had live independent PTO on the sub). I'm not taking steps backwards to move up to a bigger machine.

I'm not sure this is a step backwards, but certainly not a step forward.

What I meant was that this would be a step backwards from my subcompact. I am not moving "up" to a bigger, more expensive machine with less features, or that is lacking features, that I want and already had in a previous "lesser" machine.

Just a quick question... how did you guys find out this business with the mid and rear PTO running together? I've not heard a thing about it. It does seem strange, as they've not done tractors like that in the past. I do know alot of people would really light a higher RPM rear PTO, but I see the point that there are times that you would not want to have it running. The L's are all like that also.

Messick's - I can't tell from the photos of the new tractors that are available on this site, but I think that the only choices for the PTO control are high, neutral and low like my old B7100. I hope I am wrong on this. Could someone check a B7510 or a B7610 to see how they operate? As I said, when I put the PTO on high on my 7100, the rear PTO runs at the higher speed and the mid PTO runs as well, and the high speed has to be on to run the mower.

I tried a B2920 this past weekend, the PTO choices are 540 where just the rear turns, neutral, or 2500/960 where the mid pto runs at 2500 and the rear simultaneously runs at 960. The clutch needs to be depressed to stop the PTO and allow one to change the selector.

MessickFarm, what do you mean by 'The L's are all like that also'?

The B3030 with the 72" mower is a drive over. I just use the FEL. Its much faster than blocking the mmm wheels. The 60" is not but that may be small enough to slide out.
