Mowing b2910 mid-mount mower

Strange. The front right wheel on my 72" mower deck is also not touching the ground (B2710). I wonder if this is some sort of incorrect welding or adjustment hole misdrilling? Other than changing the height of the wheel assembly, I don't see any options. When I noticed this, I checked to be sure I had choosen the correct combination of holes, which I had.

I don't have much trouble with the bent clevis pins, but the connection at the front is really tight.

Glenn,
The rod has a 1" bend at one end and I use a hitch pin on the other end. Works great, and is very simple to use.

glennmac,

"4. Irregular wheel heights. My garage floor is the only thing I have that should be level. When I drop the deck, all the wheels are on the ground except the front right wheel, which is about 1/2" off the ground. I don't know what to do about this."

If your deck measures level then could you just lower that wheel 1/2"? Should be able to do this by rotating the wheel shaft 1/2 turn while lowering it and repin in new hole. Sounds like there could be an engineering problem with the height of this wheel bracket.

Glenn,I have to agree your over all opinion on this deck. One thing you might try when "driving over" it is to slide a couple of 2x4 or 2x6 boards flat ways underneath the edges of the deck in the spots where your front tires roll over, this would help support the deck and take away any chance of spinging it.My right front gauge wheel is also not quit perfect,I have my deck adjusted a little higher on the front edge than on the back edge.So I dropped the caster down 1/2" and it seems to work fine.Granted this deck is not perfect, but I think it is hands down better than anything else in its class. These decks are the old design of the previous B-Series models. The deck that I have came from our old B2150,the hook-ups are the same, just a different style linkage.Mine does not have the step welded on the side, but I can add that one day.We have been mowing 10 acres weekly for the past 3 years, and the deck has performed flawlessly.I do recommend a set of hi-lift blades, they just make a very good mower even better.

Von,

I have been trying for sometime to pin up the MMM on my 2910 without success. When I try, the holes miss each other by 1-2" front to back. It's not a matter of lifting or lowering the MMM; I would somehow have to move the mower forward and inch or two. I'd really like to be able to do this b/c right now I'm scraping out a driveway before forming up concrete to poor. I have to cut grass weekly and pull the box blade on evenings after work. I don't want the mower lowered with the BB because it has to bang and bump thru the rough rock and gravel and taking it on and off weekly is easy but still tiring.

I didn't buy this tractor new, so I wondered if there are some special pins or something that I didnt get? Anyway, your way of pinning the MMM up sounds like the best. I wondered if you wouldn't mind taking some pictures of the mower pinned up. I think that would help me find my problem. I know it's considered kind of a pain to do, but I haven't even come close to doing it. Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Leef

Leef,
I'll take my camera home tonight and take some photos for you. I think you should be able to adjust the front to back spacing by the front mount on the mower deck. It tells you how long the front mount should be in the owners manual for the mower deck. Hope this helps.

Make sure the front linkage is set per the attached scan. That may be where problem is located. I can scan other pages on your mower if you do not have a mower manual.

Ron, Thank you for the illustrations. No I don't have a manual for the MMM yet. I certainly intend to soon. Your pictures may explain the problem. I'll measure this distance and adjust to make it 20.9". Since the mower works fine, I've just been using it and figured the pinning up process needed special pins (like a horse shoe shape or something). I'll let you know.

Von, also many thanks. Your pictures have been very helpful for me in the past.

Von, I also think your rod solution is the best. I assume you made this yourself. What diameter rod did you use? Did you drill a hole for the pin. I too would like to see a picture.

Leef, Glenn,
I forgot my camera at my shop. Will try to remember it tomorrow and take some photos of the rod.
