Sold my b2620, want a cab enclosed and something a little more powerful. the 2620 didn't have the grunt to power my chipper or have the 3pt lift capacity for my sander... So had my heart set with the 3350... reading horror stories on regen but cant get a feel for how big of a deal this is. This wont get used a lot, mostly mowing and chipping. I did have a 2015 Grand l 4260 that had the new regen, I understand there are some differences but it would seem to regen every 10 hours or so... kinda annoying but wasn't too impactful to me.

I cant seem to find many other brands in that size range with a cab and mower combo, no Deere unless 3 series (very pricey new and nothing used anywhere close) Kiot1, Mahindra, TYM, LS, . Thoughts please? Really like to hear from people who have and like them. There is a low hour 2015 3350 in my area for a very good price.

The problems regarding regeneration on the Kubota b3350 have been substantial and seemingly insoluble. My Kubota dealer sold one in 2013. After repeatedly fooling with it under warranty, dealer swore NEVER AGAIN. That was seven years ago. b3350 is one of the rare "lemon" models all tractor brand seem to produce once in awhile.

Kubota will soon have a replacement model out. Wait.

Though still available, there is NO reason to buy a B3350 now as, at best, the jury is still out and the long awaited common rail replacement for the 3350 has already been announced and should be at dealers by summer.

Wait for the new B3310.

Thanks, Problem is the LX has been delayed, They are thinking mid June due to the virus which puts me in a bind... The rear lift capacity was right on the edge. Had a small rear sander and wouldn't pick it up full. The hydraulic power on the 4260 and the B 2620 are both pretty weak unfortunately. A few hundred pounds more make a big difference.

OK, if you like that tractor and aren't overly concerned about it's ability to preform the tasks you need it to.
With it being a mechanically injected engine on a used tractor with no factory warranty,
modifying the exhaust would resolve the issues people had with it, disconnecting the shutdown and deactivating some alarms,
would not be that difficult.

I looked hard at the B2650 and B3350 4 years ago. There were too many horror stories even then for me to consider the 3350, and the 2650 was just too small for my needs. The 3350's reputation did not improve over the years.

There are the occasional owners that do not have any problems, but IMHO no one can honestly recommend a B3350. Perhaps an L3560 or L4060 would fit your needs? I am partial to the L4060.

I'm guessing you haven't read enough or only did a cursory search to make this comment. If some dealers refuse to take one in on trade why would you even want to risk your hard earn money?

If you can't find enough information on this form, I suggest you search some of the other orange tractor forums.

The Smaller Grand L's might be a great choice and it seem you have some experience with them.

My vote would be to forget the B3350 even exists and move on.

I have a B3350SU. I admit I am not a heavy user of this tractor and I have had it for 4 years (2016 model) with around 200 hours on it. It is my first Kubota and yes, my dealer did not warn me of the problems, I am guessing he did know but that is water under the bridge now.

Does it do the job if you follow the dealer instructions, yes it does. Most people would feel that the instructions are somewhat foolish, but I can understand why they tell you to do the following. It does work. I cannot summarize everything in one post, but let me help you with some real life info on my specific tractor. (disclaimer: may not be same on all and ones who have not had any ECU upgrades):
1. You need to run the engine at full throttle most of the time. ESPECIALLY if its attempting a regeneration (the light comes on to tell you). This can be annoying at times and could prevent proper use of the tractor (i.e. auger speed tied to engine speed). but 95% of the time its not a problem. Some people feel that is a deal breaker, I do not.
2. If you are not running it full throttle OR you bog it down badly while regenerating, the safety device for overtemp exhaust MIGHT shut it down. Again, not common and took me a long time to figure out that is what is doing, but if that happens, it will not start for about 20 minutes so the exhaust can cool and stop burning (yeah, the computer thinks the DPF is burning too hot). If you are paying attention this should never happen. I happily continue rotary cutting with the light on and as long as the engine keeps up no issue. I was told that you can shorten that time by pulling the battery lead for a couple minutes, but have not had the chance to try. I beat my tractor so bogging it does happen.
3. Parked regen. IMO forget it. I have tired parked regens over and over and unless you want to let it sit there for a very long time at full throttle forget it. Its better to just use the tractor and keep the rpm high.
4. Manually turn off with regen light on (dealer says don't do it). Go ahead. I do it all the time. Sure the dash may flash or beep or do something stupid, but it starts right up anyway. It will restart the regen again anyway, just keep her full throttle.
5. Use more fuel. Maybe, i can't tell nor do I care. It takes so little anyway. My diesel pickup uses way more to regen.

That pretty much covers the DPF regen issues. Now lets talk about the good news:

1. Its pretty well known that the B3350 has a lot of detractors. In the world of negotiating, that puts you in the drivers seat. You should be able to get one cheap. Maybe really cheap and low hours if you time it right. Its does not take long for an owner to figure out something with the tractor is odd. Many "classic" guys just cannot handle running full throttle so they see the issue more often and therefore give up soon. I was almost that guy too, until i figured it out. The B3350 will be the cheapest most capable tractor out there soon and never pay anywhere close to another comparable (unless they did a "modification" for you illegally).
2. Mechanically injected (not common rail) 4 cylinder. If you don't know the advantages of a diesel of that design, look it up. It will run reliably for a very long time. And if you make a "modification" you will have an even better machine for cheap.
3. While the "modification" is illegal it will not be readily available on the internet due to the low volume of B3350's, but with some help and advice it should be possible to remove all of the regen problems noted above. You will need help.

So, that being said, buy what you want. I beat the heck out of mine the few hours I use it and it has plenty of power and drives almost any PTO device I can throw at it (size appropriate). If I come across another B3350 being sold really cheap, I would buy it and probably use it as a test bed to document a "modification", but since that is illegal, maybe later. I am hoping that having a little more knowledge than the last guy can be my benefit.

If you want to chat more outside of the open forum, send me a PM. If someone reading this has specific experience doing the "modification" noted, also send me a PM I have a question for you.

Hi
I’m the owner of a 3350hsdc cab that approached my dealer about downsizing due to my age and a couple of medical problems. He told me he wasn’t interested because of his past experience. I bought a take back with 50 or so hours.
After a couple of months and a minor operator error Kubota brought my unit into the shop and did a bunch of things. New sixty amp alternator, winter front, air intake, insulated the blower pipe, cpu reprogram and it has not had a problem in five years. I use it mainly for blowing and plowing snow. Regens every 15/16 hours like clock work.
I run it just a bit over 2000 rpms and don’t leave it idle for any length of time.
If you find one like mine (260hrs) for a decent price and it’s been updated you could have one **** of a deal. That turbo 33 horse is a powerhouse.

I wouldn't touch a B3350. That's not because I read it on the internet, it's because my dealer has been buried in servicing these things and there is no clear solution for making it right with upset customers.

Last week I came across a Messick's video of Neil Messick buying a B3350 for himself since the deal was so good.

Not sure what to think about that!

One factor to consider is that, as owner of a Kubota dealer, he can have any future problems addressed in his own shop at much lower cost than can most others, regardless of warranty coverage.

My dealer refused to sell them after the first couple debacles. That said a lot to me.

Yes weak.. Yes it was a 4060. I confused it with the 4240 we had prior. The loader on the 4060 was pathetic. I don't care what any specs say, when you cannot pick up a loaded bucket of gravel then yeah I think its fairly weak especially compared to some others in the same category.

I ask these questions because like most forums, the problems are heard and you don't hear from the rest in many cases. When we purchased the 4060 there were lots of regen issues as well as people didn't understand it and were idling way too much. Leave that idling like you would other farm tractors and the dpf filter would plug right up.

The parked regen hardly EVER worked on that as well... So we got used to running it harder. That's why I am asking people who are satisfied. Like I said I can deal with a 10 hour interval for regen if it can be worked at wot during that time. So I am used to those types of "issues" and wondering how comparable it may be in reality of my usage.

I do need to mow thats why this size machine is needed. I needed something in between the b2620 and the 4060.

My local dealer said they didn't have many issues after the updates. They said tippiness was more of an issue.

I appreciate everyone taking time to answer. Thank you.

Well with all the negative feedback you got on that tractor and all the issues it may have, if you want it.
You should be able to get a fairly good deal on it.

Its just hard to sort what is prevalent vs realistic. I know there are thousands of owners out there. Would an equally price TYM unit new be a better option or is a flawed bota still a better value. So far the threads I researched the same commenters are the ones on those threads too. I can go to a ford f250 thread that bag on the 6.0 yet have 10 that say heck, i got 250k out of mine so... Guess I was hoping to hear some owners say how much they were not effected by the trouble areas.

Thanks all.
