yea ok, but it doesn't explain how the isuzu is doing it with 3 cyl and is almost identical to the 9.8k kubota
It’s not uncommon for those Kubotas to run 70-80,000 hours and 50,000 would be typical. Longest I’ve seen an Isuzu run is about 40,000 and 30,000 is typical (which is still pretty good). Either one would be excellent for home use but parts are a little easier to get for the Kubotas.
There are lots of both of these engines running continuously on mountain tops all over western Canada and they are both great engines. Kubota is more conservative in their ratings in favour of longevity.
At 80 hours a year, a 50,000 hour generator will yield you 625 years. Eat healthy and exercise :thumbsup:A little silly to worry or argue about longevity of a back up generator. I put about 40-80 hours a year on mine. Longest expected outage would be 100-150 hours. If one is good for 30,000 hrs and the better one goes for 50,000 hrs....who cares? If I live another 30 years, a 3000 hr unit will never wear out.
