I used to use my LMC BB with a 2" receiver to skid logs all the time; here are some pics:
There are some downsides to using this method that I think bear discussing:
- Using the Logrite Skidding Tongs made dragging far easier than a chain. Don't have to lift it to get underneath it and the tongs lift the logs better
- Still pretty labor intensive, getting off, hooking up
- Drags the logs though the dirt. Result: wash the logs off or risk your chainsaw chains getting dull faster
- Requires "drive thru" clearance to drop the logs off; if you have the space (like I do), then no biggie
Now, having said all that - and at the risk of derailing the thread - if you plan to move a lot of logs, I highly recommend you think long term into Plan B:
