Battery powered chainsaw

I cut about 8 cord a year off my property using my 372xp for bigger stuff, my 352xp for most mid sized trees, and my little Echo 440 for small stuff.

I saw ( no pun intended) this little “toy” saw on Amazon for $39.99 on sale. I thought, what the heck, for the price of a pizza and a couple beers, I’ll try it. I figured it would be handy for larger brach pruning in the orchard.

Tell you what, I was shocked, how well it works. After using it for a couple weeks, I ordered a second one, to either keep or a present to friends/relatives.
I was initially skeptical that it would actually have a brushless motor for only $40, including 3 extra chains , but it does.
I just used it to clear out a 15 year old growth area of about 500 saplings ranging from 1/2”-4” diameter, and it exceeded my expectations, big time.
Battery life is actually quite good, and it was much easier than using my smallest gas saw. The single hand operation is so convenient, on the larger saplings I’d hold the butt ends off the ground with one hand and cut some small firewood pieces with the other.
I’m a believer now
Looks like a good saw to mount to my zero turn. I sometimes spend half the summer telling myself, "I should trim that low branch" while mowing, only to forget to go back and do it before the next mowing. But if I had a saw always mounted on the mower...

That's one of the things I love the most about my Echo 2511T is being able to use it with one hand.

Careful, I finally got around to trimming back that bush that was hitting me in the face and it turned into a half-day's work...

I also use my T435 one-handed when limbing, but it's very unsafe, as it's impossible to control kickback with just one wrist. If you don't believe me, I have a scar in the midddle of my head to prove it. Thankfully my baseball hat and a quick trigger finger were enough to prevent more serious damage.

I still do it, but with much more care with what direction kickback could carry the saw, should it happen again. We all do our best to avoid contact with the deadly zone that is the upper quadrant of the bar tip, but when fighting through a mess of branches on a downed tree, these things can happen.

Shhhh the safety police will get us. :ROFLMAO: 🍻

Been doing that forever myself. Think dad did it with this little 130 guy and I hated it. Early 80's.
I really really hated that saw. I wont even stick a carb kit in it it needs today. 😋

I got this 2000 in 94 and still did it.

Then 338 200T 3400 637. I'm sure there is many I have forgotten.

The 150T was still little heavier then 2511.

But man oh man those 2511's make it so much easier.

Yup, you have to be careful and pay attention for sure. If I am operating one handed, I'm pretty laser focused. Actually, when sawing, I am always laser focused. I have seen bad things happen before.

A kick-back incident was the very first thing that happened when I was trying out my new (at the time) Echo 271T. Fortunately, no contact with the saw. I still one-hand it all the time, but that incident was my wake-up call to be more careful.

I bought the saw for climbing, but it has become my go-to saw unless I need something bigger (which is rare unless I'm removing a tree).

This is the one I keep on the tractor for limbing:

Easy one handed operation and doesn't take up much space in the cab.

I find my AP battery pole saw ideal for trail and perimeter clean up and keeps me in the safe zone and no bending easier on my back.

Hurricane Sandy passed right over our house in 2012, turning the whole area into what looked like a post-war zone. I spent at least 5 - 6 years cleaning up giant oaks and ash that blew down in that storm, and were all propped atop one another like big Ø40 inch x 200 foot pickup sticks.

As I was setting up for various cuts, I remember my old friend saying, "I won't blame you if you chicken out, I already did." :ROFLMAO: He's the one that gave me the idea to start using a pole saw for some of these really nasty cuts, where the tree was under less-predictable tension.

I use mine like a lance knowing it’s limitations.

One very good feature given the prevalence of poison oak wrapped around the oaks and my susceptibility is the pole saw provides distance…

My brother had the largest gas Stihl pole saw which I borrowed once and it did a great job but totally wore me out as I had it fully extended.

I used the electric saw while "up the tree" on spikes ,seat and flip line. The battery ran down before I did, (and I'm OLD!)
I have the Echo DCS-2500T (56V battery with 2.5Ah) and it astounds me how long the battery lasts and what a good cutter it is.
It's so light I keep having to remind myself it's not a toy.

The city following its own rules is now using Stihl backpack batteries for string and brush trimmers…

We are on the verge of bankruptcy but can afford nearly 3k to outfit battery power to vegetation management crew members.

Ideology, even when it leads to bankruptcy.

I'm a tool-a-holic. If there were meetings here I'd go..."hello, I'm fuddy, and I'm addicted to tools".
I just see them as yet another variety of must have tools. Everything has their merit and application. I have a variety of air tools that sit gathering dust because battery equivalent ones are just so easy and fast.
I have this Toro 16" push mower my Grandfather bought in the 1960s. It uses a 12 volt car battery.

The idea is a bailout is around rather corner or add to bond debt or sales tax…

Charter cities have even sold city hall to raise short term cash.
