Your doing an amazing job fighting those boulders and stumps. Stick with it, the results will be just as amazing.

When I look at all those rocks, I'm reminded how lucky I am to only have to deal with red clay. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Eddie I'm sure you have seen this all before. I follow your projects, you are a pro, no exceptions. Thanks for the encouraging words.
The original movie "Jaws" has a scene where the shark passes under the boat and chief Brody remarks "we're gonna need a bigger boat". Me too. We really need an excavator. I will keep plugging along with the 3130, a few hours after work while the light permits and all day on the weekends and we'll get there eventually. He (BIL) spent a week of his vacation helping me in the freezing cold when I needed it so I'll give him what I can. The building is planned to be 24 X 36 two stories, 3 car garage on grade and workshop one floor up. Full perimeter monolithic concrete foundation 42" below grade. Post & Beam cut from white pine at the local sawmill. All we care about is having roofers on before the snow fly's. We'll use the stone to fashion a retaining wall on the low side of the slope at some future time. My BIL is a swamp yankee and they don't waste too much. He won't pay to haul away the stumps because the rodents that move into the pile will entertain his cats.
Thanks, for looking.

50 stumps at 3 or 4 hours apiece is way too much time to spend and work/abuse on the machine. Time to hire it out if you are on any sort of schedule. The right size machine will pluck those out like onions.

I appreciate the desire for seat time but I think your seat time is better suited for cleaning up after the big machine does its work.

If 3-4 hours each was the case you would be correct and I should be in an asylum. The majority are 9" average and that is a 15-20 minute job. I'm getting better at the big ones, it's down to 2 hours to pop em and backfill.
Here's a stone we moved last night. 90 minutes start to finish.
Thanks for looking,
Martin

I think anything larger than this should be considered as abusing the machine...
Thanks for looking,

I live over in Chepachet, I had a freind with a JD 310B start digging around my place last year when he drove away I said to the wife. "Gotta get a tractor now." Ended up with a 3130. Love it. I'm looking at all your pictures and its just like my yard. Keep plugging along. I figure about 2 to 3 more years at my place. My wife refers to herself as the Tractor Widow.
