Black Locust fence posts

I agree, that second pic is just where a limb died off. Not sure about the first. Wood putty isn’t going to do anything, it’ll just fall out. If you’re worried about it, you can cut that spot out with a chain saw.

OK Thank you for the thoughts on that! I guess the worst case scenario is I'll have to replace that one in a few years... or maybe not have to replace it I suppose nothing learned is nothing gained. I love it!

Now I'm wishing I would have cut the posts 9 feet long, instead of 8 feet. I thought burrying the (corner) posts 3' in the ground would have been plenty. And it might be (with ajacent support posts, and braces) for the tightly stretched woven wire. But any thoughts on my plan? Would 3' be enough for that length of fence, with cross-membered support posts, on each side of the corner post?

Paddock 1: an "L" shaped paddock. 90' long
Paddock 2: Also and "L" shapped paddock this one about 50' long, and 85' wide.

Oh heck, with the rock I often hit, I'm lucky to get over 30" deep. With woven wire, you really need cross brace supported corner posts. Anything else except pure rock will give with the tension needed.

OTOH, that's what I like about the electrified rope, it doesn't need the tension and good unbraced corner posts work fine.

I know, I HATE doing braced fence posts :(
