Bought my first 5th wheel camper!

LOL. We had the door open as it was cool that morning and didn't need the AC yet. Its a full size residential fridge so was having issues with the fridge shutting off when running the AC on 30 Amp service.

It has 16" Tires. When I had it inspected at the dealership they recommended filling tires to a cold PSI of 75 to allow for expansion when they heated up. On this last trip my rear tires on my tow vehicle were at 75 cold (as cold as they can be in the summer), after 20 miles on the interstate they were at 85 PSI.

Good advise. With 16" you have the option of truck tires if needed. If I get another 5th wheel it will have at least 16" rims. We are thinking seriously about a tag. Would be a good match with my 2500 HD. I think the terminology is now called GLAMPING.

Are your fridge and hot water heater dual energy?

Mine will run on either gas or 110 volt power. When switched to gas, they use a very small amount of power. And can run both for a few days just off the battery.

If I'm at a place with either a standard 110 power, or hinky 30amp service, by switching the fridge and hot water to run on gas, I can run my ac without popping a breaker.

Hot water heater can run on propane and 12 volt. The fridge is a residential fullsize fridge so it can only run on 120V AC, or from the inverter when on battery/12v tow vehicle power

That's a bummer. But understandable.

Here's another tip for those folks getting RV's.

Buy a trucker GPS for use when your hauling your camper to areas you aren't familiar with. You can program length, height, ect.... for what your hauling. It keeps you to the truck routes as well as off roads with low over passes and such.

I have a standard Tom Tom GPS unit for my pickup. Company I work for has a standard Garmin GPS.

Not sure about any one else's, but mine has taken me on some interesting routes, including one where you had to drive through a section of river  Thankfully I wasn't towing anything at the time and the river was low do to a drought. But imagine that while pulling a 25 to 45 foot camper behind you.

I have the BMW Motorrad Navigator V ( GPS made for BMW by Garmin) on my BMW R1200GSA. Granted its an off-road bike - BUT, give me a break. Cow trails out across unbroken fields - enclosed with five-strand barbed wire fences. I don't know who maps out all the GPS software for the roads and trails but they sure have a good imagination.

The LAST STRAW - - up a very narrow mountain trail - this was all well and good. But the trail just simply ended at a pile of broken granite - like driving right up to an avalanche made out of broken granite boulders.

HAVE YOU ever tried to turn a 600 pound motorcycle around on a trail only two feet wide. Fortunately, as I was trying to calm down and find a rational solution - here comes two other guys on their M/C. With three guys - it was not easy but it became possible.

I no longer use my $800 Navigator V to lead the way. It is used to show me where I'm at and in the unlikely case I need to find a gas station.

I have always planned all my M/C adventure trips ahead of time with paper maps and such as Google Earth Pro. The Nav V will show where I am and how far to the turn onto Smith Rd.

I never use it when in large town - Seattle, Spokane etc - because I never ride into these large towns.

A small part of any of my adventure tour riding is mapping out the roads around large towns. On a motorcycle - avoidance is critical.
