"Yeah, montelatici, you're an idiot. No one in their right mind would want to own more than one tractor. You've jumped the track for sure this time."

I think they were her exact words a few hours ago! :)

Well, today the dealer asked me to drive the GR2110 before making the decision. It was quite amazing, it is like a zero turn. However, the flexibility of using some of my old implements (plow, disc) without removing the B/H from the BX24, and the possibility of being able to mount other 3 pt implements made me choose the little BX. The dealer was kind of pushing the GR, he said that removing and replacing the B/H on the BX24 (to use the 3Pt) was not so difficult. I told him I wasn't getting any younger and that while it is a PITA now, it might become impossible for me to do it alone 15 years from now.
So it is the BX1850 with a 54" mower and turf tires.

I had the dealer switch the turf tires that were on the used BX1500 to the AG tires becaus of the front blade and tiller i had him put on it.
I prefer AGs over turfs.
The BX23 with ags don't damage the yard so the smaller lighter BX1500 hain't gonna hurt it either.

Exchanging one or more of my tractors for a ZTR would mean spending more time switching attachments just to save some time mowing.
I don't see spending more time switching attachments as doing something productive with the tractor:
I'd druther mow than Change Implements!

I would rather spend my time doing something productive on the tractor other than mowing grass that is why if it were an option I would have a zero turn along with my bx. The speed and ease of a zero turn can't be matched by a tractor.

I took your advice and stayed with the ag tires. My BX24 has the industrial tires (didn't hurt the lawn with the FEL and B/H) and the ags don't look that much more aggressive, the BX1850 with only a mower should do alright with the ags on the lawn and will do better in the fields. Industrial tires aren't available for the BX1850 wheels sizes, apparently.

The BX1850 arrived just at about 8:45. It was dark but I could see they mounted the 54 inch mower, as promised! Drove it into the barn in front of the BX 24. I have about 3 feet to spare with the B/H bucket of the BX24 sitting between the 3 point hitch, whew. Only downer, no manual. They said they would mail one to me. Oh well. So, the final deal was pretty good I think, $8,250 with the FEL hydraulics installed and the 54 inch mower. With the hydraulics I can consider a front blade (if it fits within the 3 feet!).

The other dealer offered his best price of $8,400 without the front hydraulics. I think it is a $600 option retail.

BTW, the dealer had dropped the GR2110 to $6,900 (which is the lowest price I was quoted when my target was a diesel garden tractor) before I signed for the BX, so I paid a $1,500 premium for the BX. About $35 a month with the 42 month no interest financing. No big deal money-wise.

Hope this real time pricing info helps. After a while I tend to forget.

Congratulations. I had a BX 2230 and sold it and bought a B7800. I missed the smaller tractor for mowing around the house, so I bought a T1570 for the wife and kids to use around the house, and I use the 7800 with the 60 MMM to mow the other 4 acres of yard I have. I do wish I had the BX back, though. You made the right decision. And tell your wife you're not an idiot, you just know how to play your cards right.
Have fun,
Pat

Now you're all set, Monty. Stay on 'em about that manual. You should still take the mower off once or twice a season to grease everything, clean, inspect, and sharpen blades. I think we all know to hit the spindles every time we mow, but there are several other zerks that are harder to reach that need grease occasionally as well.

The mower removal trick, if you haven't seen it, is to disconnect the mower, raise the front wheels a few inches off the ground with the FEL, and then roll the disconnected mower forward into the space between the loader bucket and the front wheels. Then lower front wheels, raise bucket, and back the tractor away to gain full access to the mower. Works fine with the B-models, I've heard it works with the BX as well.

Now you need a dump trailer so the 1850 can cart away the stuff the BX24 digs up. Just try not to smile too much when you walk in the house after a day's "work".

Shantycoke, you should never sell a tractor that's still working well for you. It's too much like abandoning a good and helpful friend. You'll always regret it.

That is a good method if you don't have a dolly and smooth pavement, however, in my own experience, using a well designed dolly on smooth pavement is faster, easier, and more efficient.

I could only use this method by lifting the front of BX1850 with the BX24's FEL, the 1850 has no FEL. I will have study this carefully to avoid making a mess of things. The garage with a smooth concrete floor is home to my wife's 73 Mustang convertible and my daughter's 72 Alfa Romeo Spider plus my motorcycles. Cars that hardly ever get driven! No room for dollies and the like, unfortunately. Barn floor is dirt, so no help there.

What do you mean by dump trailer. You need the DUMP TRUCK and that is the RTV.
