I have been looking for a seat for my "ultimate garden tool", known to the public as a BX22D TLB. One of the dealers I use advertised a seat for about $150 then after I ordered it they notified me it wasn't available, but they had the $400 one in stock and would be happy to send it. Right, a $400 seat on a twenty year old lawn tractor. I don't think so, even if it is orange. I took a shot at an $80 seat from Northern Tool with a 7.5" spread on some of the threaded holes, and it came out really well. I wound up drilling two holes and buying a few dollars worth of grade 8 5/16x18 hardware, but it is all that. It works well with good clearance in both the tractor and backhoe positions. I'm attaching pics if anyone else is thinking about doing anything similar.

In 8 years, seats prices have become INSANE. I thought things made in ASIA made them CHEAPER, both in price and quality. BUT, one would have a seat.

I keep looking at the Marine seats in the Sporting Goods section of stores. Great selection of colors, foldable, has the SAME mounting holes, for $11 there is a swivel option too. AND they are much MORE UV RESISTANT than the expensive tractor seats.

You can get them in the 2-color option of white and nearly anything; White Red, White Orange, White Dark Green (JD), White Yellow, etc.

Wise is one maker. There are others too.

The BX22 is the SCUT size of a lawn tractor, no a riding lawn mower. The term lawn tractor years ago did define a mower unit with a 3PT, aka Gravely, WheelHorse, Simplicity, etc.

I doubt those were called lawn tractors (but with marketing people pulling the strings, who knows?). More likely called garden tractors...not that most garden tractors can compare to the BX either...but they are definitely closer than a lawn tractor...😀

Decades ago I had what I think was a Craftsman badged Wheel horse garden tractor. 3 speeds plus high/low range. Did a lot of work for me. But the BX can do ten times more (maybe 20 times).

Calling a BX22 a lawn tractor is kind of insulting. Now a BX1500? Never saw one so I don’t know...but maybe...???

I'm on the GTalk forums too. They can add loaders, BH and all sorts of things to those garden/lawn tractors. There is a guy there with the most amazing Cub Cadet machine like the BX22.

Zoinks, that BX1500 is sooooo small. Has a 3PT lift in the back and really neat, 4WD. It's about the size of a JD318 even.
