BX24

The dealer is suggesting I go with Turf tires. I wanted the R4 tires. He does not care either way. Will the R4's tear up the lawn that much? The yard is bascally dry year round as it slopes.
I would not have anything but Ags on my BX23.
The BXs are to small and light on their feet to cause any real damage to turf so why not get the best traction which is the AGSs.
This AGs ripping up the turf is mostly all hype when it comes to the sub compacts as i see it.

I have turfs, in muddy/snowy areas. I heard R4's are nicer in snow and using FEL work. I got turfs since my 90% of use of the BX24 was supposed to be mowing. I ended up doing alot of FEL, backhoe, towing, plowing work in snow and mud. I dont regret my decision going with turfs, but I wonder at times if I should have sprung for 2 sets, turfs and R4s. I realize my post wouldn't help much, but overall the BX can do alot regardless of the tire choices you make. It is just a matter of "at the moment I am doing this" might make you wonder about the tire choices. Having R4's makes you wish you had turfs, having turfs makes you wish you had R4's. I can only say this, if you need traction and you have turfs, putting chains on is a good investment.

Bruiserx2 - Sad to here that John Deere does not want to retain a customer. I started out looking at the 2305 in Connecticut and the pricing is outrageous. Typically quoted $2,0000.00 more than most of the TBN posts. Looking at a BX24 as well since the cost is so reasonable compared to the JD.
Are you dealing with Wesco?

I am dealing with Wesco. Adam has been real good to deal with. I work in Stamford and live in Fairfield so they are convenient. In addition to that they seem like they will support the purchase for years to come. My friend bought a tractor from them two years ago and had a good experience as well.

Since you are keeping you JD, I would go with R4s. I still have my lawn tractor for mowing -BX is for dirt and utility work - but have mowed with the BX some, just because I wanted to try it with the MMM.

I have filled R4 tires and have not hurt my turf at all - whether in 4x4 low of 2wheel/high. With my steep hills I have done more damage on the LT with turfs - spinning wheels. BX with turfs would be better I'm sure because of the weight - but the R4s seem to do just fine for all situations.

That said - I don't have a golf course lawn, just good, thick, broad blade Kentucky 31. A fine bladed grass may not hold up as well.

Bruiserx2 - I bought a Ford 1120 12 years ago at Wesco. Great tractor and the service was fine. Get your BX24...Not ready to pull the trigger for a couple of weeks. Does Wesco have more than one BX24 leftover in stock?

bruiserx2, quick hide....here come the safety police!:p

But seriously, nice tractor, you won't be sorry you bought it. My BX23 is almost 5 YO and I still look forward to, and make up excuses, for using it.

No worries, I removed all the senors for the seat etc like my Bx22. I like being able to move off the seat and still mow...

Nevermind the removed ROPS and no-operational seatbelt.....:D:D:cool:
