This pic is the plug for a BX25. Can anyone tell me what the symbols mean?

P=Power? IG=Ignition? L=Lights?

Ugghh...

The first picture is a regulator for a 60AMP Alternator that is 99% sure to bolt into a BX25.
It has two blades to the plug.

This second picture is a regulator for a 40AMP Alternator that is for a BX25.

Can I make this work by making a 60 x 40 electrical pigtail adaptor?
I need to figure out what P IG L mean ...

Sorry I do not meet up to your standards!

Wish I was that smart, obviously I am not, if I had the awswers
I would not be here. Sorry I spoiled your TBN experience w/ my
inabilities. If someone had jumped in and interjected a solution
it would have died long ago. To date alls I can do is
post my thoughts in hopes of coming upon a solution.
I believe I have proclaimed my lack of electrical skills
some time ago. Congradulations if you know the
answers, till I see it alls I know is you know the
awnsers and I do not...

I go to GREAT pains to pay it forward on this list.
GrappleOmatic, BX25 Full Cage Rollbar and others. Is
it really to much to seek help from time to time? Perhaps
if I was just a huge vacuum on this list your "complaint"
would be warranted, the facts are I am not, thanx for
nothing.

Is it possible that your tractor doesn't use the P connection? Is your tach. electronic? If you have access to a wiring diagram you could find out if P is actually used.
That alt. could be built to fit many different apps.
I recently replaced an alt. in a friends Ford tractor. The new alt. came with a tach lead. The original didn't have one.

The L is for your Alt. charge light.
IG is to provide field for the alt. and becomes hot when the key is on.

I would say yes, unless there is something that uses the tach. lead.

My 3240 has an electronic tach. for the PTO. I expect that I would need the P connection on my tractor.

Now you got me curious Artisan. It's hot outside and good time to sit in front of cold computer. Looked on the web in general. People with Truck/Jeep winch questions etc. These are folks with 75-80 Amp alternators already. A lot depends on what type of winch you are focusing on.......... heavy duty, or baby ATV type winches. Here are a couple of sites with some electrical info.

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f27/winch-amp-draw-stock-alternator-140033/ (notable quote: You will never be able to install an alternator that will keep up with the draw an electric winch will place on the battery, this is a loosing battle.) Some of the winches will be drawing about 400 amps when working; at idle, motor only, they draw around 55 amps (Ramsey 4.8 HP series wound motor for 12K winch)

How to choose a Winch (See the section on electrical considerations).

So it all depends what you want your winch to do, if light duty work I bet your 40A alternator could work, a lot less hassle.

I am a little wiser now after doing a little looking. Good luck in your endeavors.
