I have been looking at 3 pt hitch carry alls and most of them come in at just under $100....for the most part the load capacities are 400#-500#'s...

Now I see this one from Aggri Supply that looks no different from many of the others but it says the capacity is 1000#'s

They are asking $30-$40 more than the others but what makes it able to support twice as much?

That looks like the one I got from TSC. It was a King Kutter brand. I beleive the angle size and thickness is better on these 1000lb rated carryalls. When I was looking, the KK was heavier built and twice the capacity compared to others. I've used it quite a bit and have loaded it so full of firewood that I couldn't keep the front end of my Ford 850 on the ground. It was must have been around a 1000 lb load.

I also agree that looks exactly like my TSC carryall. I use mine for hauling large rocks and logs

Here is what I learned- IF you have a quick hitch or I Match- make sure the carry all is compatable or they offer an adapter.

After I purchased my KK brand I found out the hard way  I understand KK does make a model that is compatable- FWIW

I bought the TSC Carryall frame and had some small problems with my Land Pride Cat 1 quick hitch. If you bolt the planks directly to the vertical beams of the CarryAll, the top link hook of the Quck Hitch doesn't have the clearance necessary to grab the top link pin on the CarryAll. The QuickHitch top link hook is to thick to fit between the planks and the pin.

I took a 1/2 inch thick board that was 4 inches wide and set that vertically against the CarryAll vertical beams. I drilled holes through it. The CarryAll planks then went after that, in effect setting the CarryAll planks back 1/2 inch. Then my Quick Hitch top link hook had the clearance to get in and hook the CarryAll toplink pin.

Does anyone know if the "Pat's" Quick hitch system works well with the King Cutter carry-all?
Thanks!

Look at the shipping price vs. in store price... $98 extra to ship, my guess it is heavier then you think.

The bottom angle iron is turned differently from the TSC one - wish they would post the weight of both of them to determine the thickness of the steel...

I have this problem where I get overly interested in buying 'stuff' for my tractor. Then I assess my actual needs, look at my bank statement, and then don't end up buying most of it. :) So.... would a carry-all attachment serve a purpose that is not served by moving the same things in the FEL? Or is a carry-all mainly for moving things around when your FEL is not attached?
Thanks!

I would say neither- a carry all is used to transport materials, goods or tools and while having a stable work platform- keeping your FEL free for other uses.

Example of carry all uses: Fence repairs- carrying tools, fence posts, wire etc on a work platform (work bench) or carrying (errr I mean giving) your mother in law on a ride on the tractor and not in the bucket :D

I use my carry all as much as any other attachment. I strap on a 55 gallon drum for watering trees. I haul firewood in it AND in the FEL to cut my number of trips in half. I haul tools, fertilizer, seed, etc while planting. It's a great attachement and probably the most bang for your buck.

I just got finished building mine 3 days ago except for finishing touch add-on. I can not believe the work I have done in the last 2 days with it and the reduced work time. Its kinda like the post office says ( with load limit exceptions for carryall/3ph ) " if it fits , it ships ". As others have said it frees up loader for other work and is a low cost addition to the arsenal. Built mine on a KK frame stealing all the good ideas I 've seens other here use.

I have some-what unique intentions for using a carry-all beyond the intended...

I do plan to add a plywood platform with some sides but one of the things I plan to do is bolt a bench seat onto it...

Actually the bench (crew) seat will be bolted to a couple of pieces of 4x4 (wood) then bolted to the cary-all platform...(not sure if it will face forward or backward...

The bench will also be able to hold a much larger tool/storage box when not needed to carry laborers...

Interesting reading the different posts, learning all the time. Most of the time I leave my backhoe on when getting firewood as I use it to pickup larger rounds and them bring it out to my wood splitter. This year I have some large trees I will be cutting up and thinking of taking the splitter out to the logs. The carry all would be great for taking the split wood out. Hard to get a vehicle and trailer in this area. Would be nice to see some pictures of setups that some of you have made. Thanks

Mouse if ya do a search for "carryall" you will find many threads with great pix with a multitude of variations people have done. Take the ideas ya like and add your own special purpose stuff. Also many people have designed their own wood pallet carrier systems for fire wood. I think a search on "wood pallet" or maybe just "pallet" might find those pix.

I use my carryall to augment the FEL. With the 2 of them loaded pretty much equal, the tractor balance is great; really feels stable. Only trouble is you have to load and unload the carryall by hand.

Here's a picture.

I have a front quick hitch adapter and use my carryall on the front a majority of the time. You see, in the summer, I have a rear finish mower on the 3 point, and it's much easier to just grab the carryall with the loader to do something like, carry a bunch of 5 gallon buckets to water my trees, etc.

I have a removable mother-in-law seat and sideboards for mine and used 5 foot wide 2x12's for the platform. The seat has a capacity of 3 1/2 persons.

Many of the mid-sized CUT's have 3-pt with greater lift than the loader. So for some machines it may make the moving of some loads possible where by loader they were not movable.

Granted this requires a heavier duty 3-pt pallet mover vs. a 500# capacity carry all.
