Seen in the Ottawa NFS today which is located in the western UP of MI. Just a reminder that pileated woodpeckers and all the close cousins we have here, do not tear into healthy trees. They know which are infested with bugs and not healthy. I have no idea how they do this, maybe smell? Hope you like them!

Cold, dark and dreary all day today, with snow showers seems like every hour or so. Then, as the sun was disappearing behind the horizon tonight, it turned one of those snow showers into a pink curtain.

My photos aren't fancy, but here they are. Top two are bear tracks which are not fresh. We have seen fresh ones but not today. Bottom ones are Fisher.

For a few years I have had a nesting pair of Great Horned Owls and the crows don't like them. I just took a picture of one sunning himself in the afternoon sun. Too bad I don't have a nice camera.
