Cordless grease guns

Northern has 2 cordless grease guns. One that's 12v and one that's 7.2 volts. Did you get the 12v?

Yeah, JD, I've still got one of those, too, but mine is a little one that uses those miniature tubes (talk about having to stop and change tubes frequently/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif). I don't use it much anymore though; just use the air powered one in the shop building.

JD Kid - The 12v model produces 6,000 psi and the 7.2v model produces 5,000 psi. The air-powered one Lincoln lists in their catalog is also rated at 6,000 psi, while their highest pressure hand-powered one is rated at 7,000 psi.

Hi ya
i found the info i wanted my air gun is 5000PSI hand gun is 7500 PSI there is a bigger hand gun (lever type not one handed) that goes to 10000 PSI ,like i was saying i have found the lower PSI at times is to low to brake the seal or vaclume(?)that forms in some bearings most common is bush/pin ...uni's and ball/rollers i have never had a prob with ..
oh yea bird the tubes in mine are 450gram about a pound in USA one place i worked on had bulk filling from drums but tubes fit toolboxs better and ya always have spear with ya kinda hard to drive home 1-1/2 hours just for grease
catch ya

JD, my air gun is an Alemite product and it says 1200 to 6000 psi with air pressure of 30 to 150 psi, so I guess with my 120 psi or so, my air gun has about the same pressure as yours, and in my case, it's always been plenty.

Hi ya
hay thats a point it could be the same maybe i could be down in air PSI and getting poor grease gun PSI ,yea i norm have no probs but it does happen now and then thats when a few more PSI in the gun helps and it's a right pain if ya have nothing to crack the tight ones
catch ya

The cordless grease gun arrived today. It appears to be well made. Nice long hose with spring guards on both ends. Pretty hefty in size and weight. It had obviously been tested - the grease they used to test it was still on the end of the hose and had also made things a little messy inside the case. It's made in Taiwan. I can't say how well it works yet, because I haven't been able to try it out. The manual says it's rated for 6,000 psi, but if you replace the hose, make sure you get a 7,500 psi one because it will generate 7,500 psi of pressure - interpret that one however you like.

I've got a question about grease guns. As you can see by my bio I am into mechanical things which need to be greased occasionally. The problem I have with my hand held guns is that once I'm done and I let it sit the plunger seems to let the grease get past and gets all around the spring wasting and entire tube of grease. Question is, am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to store the gun with the plunger in the back locked position and if I do won't this eventually weaken the spring? Am I supposed to remove the tube after I use it? Do the air pressure grease guns also have this springed plunger on them? This problem has caused me a great deal of grief to the point that I just don't grease things I should. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
