The forms are off and the lighting is a little better now. This is the place my BBQ will sit. I wanted to have it on concrete, but didn't want it under a roof. I also wanted enough space to stand on while cooking.

The drain line is for my gutter on this side of the porch roof.

The long thing concrete strip is for my plants. One side will be grass, the other will be some shrubs.

The walkway came out really nice. The slope isn't very steep, and the angle is nice and mild.

Grass will be planted on the right, shrubs on the left.

Here's the basic porch. Paint is still in progress, but you can get a pretty good idea of what it looks like so far.

I'm really happy with the way the cedar posts tie in with the exposed truss in the end and how the green metal roof all tie in together.

Looks great, Eddie. Like a Western Lodge. The curved concrete boder for the grass is a fine idea - will save a bunch of trimming time compared to the square corner.

"Western Lodge" is exactly what I'm hopeing to achieve with the look of my buildings. Thank you for noticing it. I keep thinking, would this fit in if it was in Yellowstone?

I had all sorts of plans to do all sorts of things on Sunday, but ended up smoothing dirt, then placed my fire ring, which started the kids on wanting a fire. Then roasting weenies. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So we all took some time to enjoy the porch and what we've accomplished. To say it was nice to do nothing is an understatement!

After some hot dogs and being lazy, I put in a swing for the kids to play on. I thought it would be fun for them, but I had no idea how much they'd enjoy it.

I also took the backhoe and scraped off some of my bermuda grass from a pasture, then dumped and spread it in my front yard.

Bermuda is a great warm weather grass that is just about impossible to kill, stays green all summer long, even if it's not watered, or we don't get rain for a month. Amazing stuff!!

I'm hoping to get the entire yard spriged and the roots established before it gets too cold out. Then in the spring I should have a really nice lawn.

Well, Eddie, looks like you've got the "Home" part of this thing pretty much licked. Looks great!

My Mom and Dad have been visiting, and she's been a huge help in finishing off the painting. Dad is off on the dozer clearing brush, but Mom has finished up painting the exterior and doors.

Here's a pic of the bathroom doors all nice and green. Rustoleum paint in hunter green is a very, very close match to my green roof. I spray painted the Home Depot gutters this color, but decided to buy a gallon of it for the doors.

This was a mistake. Painting oil based paint on the doors was a nightmare. Mom had to use a foam roller to get a smooth finish, but even then, there's imperfections that she sanded out and repainted each door several times to get it right.

Next time I'm either going to spray the doors, or try harder to get a latex paint in the right shade. Live and learn.
